I am looking to buy some nintendo 8 bit cartridges for my personal collection. I am not looking to spend a fortune, but if you have some sitting in your attic or whatnot, let me know. please email me or PM me with a list of what you have and how much you want. Please no a_holes telling me to get a PS2 or Xbox. I have both and I just enjoy playing the old games that I played when I was a kid. Also no Super Mario/duck hunt (have too many already). I will pickup cartridges. Thanks.

why not get a dreamcast and do a DC emulator with like 700 nes games? imo it's more dependable then fighting with the old nintendo cartridges

yeah, for those that don't know how to USE or HANDLE their video games (or even how to clean them properly), that is true. But for those who KNOW what they are doing (and how to clean them), nothing compares to using carts.
This goes out to all morons that blow in their carts or systems to get them to work...or use alcohol.

So biggnick, why don't you inform me on the proper way to care for the system? I figured after 16 years, the system just kind of ages, like a stereo that sits on the shelf and never gets mishandled, after a while, it just stops working. So why don't you tell me how I should have cared for my NES?

First off, the remark was not made to you! I hate it when plp say "Just emulate it..." Yes, emulations have their usefulness, but have some respect.
Any cart chip based system or game should be cleaned using a non-alcoholic/bleach based cleaner, and cotton. The best cleaner is 409. It is a degreaser and cleaner that contains NONE of the above listed. Using Q-Tips will be fine.
First off, spray the Q-Tip with the 409. You can use a lot to start out, but spray the Q-Tip and NOT the cart. Rub each side of the cart with the Q-Tip. Notice how dark the Q-Tip is from all the dirt and grime on the silicon contacts?
That dirt comes from the "years of aging." One of the worst things you can do to your old cart based games and system is blowing on them. Your saliva contains acids (natural) as well as moisture that eventually builds up on the contacts, and causes the "blinking screen" effect that lead most plp to believe that their system/games are bad.
Also, NEVER clean with alcohol. While it IS a temporary solution, the acid in the alcohol will eventually break the silicon down, and destroy the plated contacts that you see on the chip itself.
Anyways, once you get all the grime off, and the Q-Tip comes out clear, use another dry Q-Tip to dry off the contacts. Once that is done, insert the game into your system a few times (you know, in-and-out), and then clean the game again. The contacts will pick up any grime in the system itself and will eventually clean out the system.
And there you have it! I have worked in the video game industry for most of my life, and I PROMISE you this is the best way to clean off silicon contact chips.
Finally, I have no problem with emulation, but taking that instead of the actual games (to a collector like myself) kills off everything that people worked for in the video game workplace. Nothing replaces an original, and emulators can sometimes ruin a game (adjustments, ect). So enjoy playing those old games again!
