First and formost I shoot on a Nikon D70 DSLR, seen here with the SB400 Nikkor Flash.

Since you have a Nikon I would suggest getting into the market with the D70 to retain use of your lenses, but Nikon's are not cheap. The D70 is in the $1100 range with the kit 28-70mm zoom lense. If you want to really stay on a budget I would suggest the Canon Digital Rebel or Rebel XT, they are both much more affordable. $660-$895 range with a kit 50mm lense.

1.) Almost all photographers adjust level in PS, as well as a few other things. The level of post processing is determined by the photo and what you are going for. Obvious, model photography for the magazine requires more post processing than my land scapes.

2.) The only formal training that I, Patrick, Mike or Chris have is through hands on experience. Its not really something you can go to school and "learn" it just comes from shooting and seeing what works.

I figured as much on the PS touch ups. I have never touched up any of my photos, I guess to me it takes away a little from the natural shot. But I fully understand why it needs to be done (magazines, etc.)

This was taking at the massive MET museum in NYC a few weeks ago.

Keep in mind these pics were taken through a glass case so it distorts a little but it came out pretty good considering. Also I had to reduce the size quite a bit to load it on TR since I do not have access to my server at the moment, the non reduced version has more clarity.

I like this one a lot. Everything is really balanced / centered.

I had to reduce it to fit on TR so it lost a little clarity but overall I think it came out pretty good for a simple Olmypus camera on a medium setting with no touch ups.

Well, you may save a few dollars if you can pickup a used Nikon DSLR, there are certainly some used D70's to be had on Ebay. If you want to look locally, I would suggest stopping by North Tampa Photo on Busch Blvd, as I know when I was in there last they had some used D70's. Personaly, I would buy new and take out the extended warranty. There are some new Nikons coming out 4th quarter including an D60 I beleive that will be a scaled back version of the D70 and cheaper.

Tikigod, those pics are sic, how long did it take you to get those together?

Anyways, Im 23 and have been into photography since high school (went through photo 4) I shoot with a Minolta Dimage 7i SLR, and have a Sony 5MP for backup in my car. I wish I could afford a new SLR, but it will have to wait. My desktop with most of my pics is in pieces at the moment or else I would post up. I just did a shoot all over Gainesville and those are on my laptop, but I need to make some adjustments in size for posting. Anywhoo, Ill post up when i get the chance.

funny you say that actually - i recently told Rob about N.Wilksboro, when I was visiting family out in NC we drove past there and I made us turn back around so we could get closer to teh track. Drove all around it, lots of places to get in but it was getting really dark and I being unfamiliar with the area decided not to try to climb under the fences (which would've be really easy)

next time for sure....unless the track caves in on itself by then
