thanks for the link... what i dont understand is..to cut abs you need to diet and watch what you eat.. to bulk upper body, you must eat alot.. so i guess i cant do this at the same time.. i am thinking it would be better for me to bulk up first then get cut.. is this correct?

pretty much correct, you want to bulk up as clean as possiable but that doesn't mean you can have oreos if you want(but not ever day). eat in excess calories everyday as clean as you can untill you hit a desired weight/size whatever, then cut back on calories and hit cardio and cut up alittle, the end result with proper diet and training will be you with abs at a higher weight and bigger size than when you started.

It's next to impossible to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time, as stated in these articles.

And what's better is relative, some people want to get ripped first, THEN get bigger, some would rather the opposite, that part is all personal preference.

Ehh, never was one to really try and cycle bulking and cutting...but I am gonna start working my way back into shape. The 3 year break was nice, but I need to start doing something again.

thier two times it can be done, when you first start out with you did, and when you juice(with you haven't yet). any other time you might lost 10lbs fat and gain 1lbs muscle , it will never a even trade off in weight lose ie i lost 10lbs of fat last month but gained 10lbs muscle at the excat same time.

very true, another factor is the time it takes to lose your fat. Say someone loses the 10lbs, well since you can only lose up to 2lbs of fat a week. if you lose anything faster you are losing water and muscle. So instead of taking 5 weeks to lose your 10lbs of fat you set a goal like 10 weeks, its very possible you'll gain a a half a lb of muscle. Which in 10 weeks on a cut is a damn good thing considering most people will drop a lb or 2 of muscle, let alone maintain what they have.
