I visited my 4th chiropractor in the Tampa area today. For the second visit. A cracking was very much desired by my ailing neck. It seemed to go well, and I was looking forward to the good old days when I went to a great Chiro for a year, 2 or 3 times a week, and felt better than ever in my lifespan thus far of 28 years.
If the doc seems good, though, the buck stops there. Literally. Estimated cost was $90 a week :whoa: out of my pocket, depite my very helpful insurance plan from the liberal media. We won't discuss the deductable here.
So please make your medical opinion heard via this poll, and if you side with us crazies who like having as few pinched nerves as possible, please share you good or bad Tampa chiropractor experiences.

I LOVE the back cracker!!!! I used to go once a month, but I stopped. I felt like a bowl of jello afterwards. Its great when nothing hurts anymore. I do heavy physical labor so my back takes a huge hit.
My back lady only charges $26/ adjustment ;)

I really, really need to go back to one. Chronic headaches from back pain aren't cool
never been to one... i was always under the impression that you shouldnt treat the symptoms only, but the cause as well. You might try visiting an osteopath (sp?). Not only will they relieve some of your symptoms, but discover what causes them, like poor posture, weight distribution, bad shoes, sleeping positions. I had back problems as young as 16, but my dr told me that some of the cause was me wearing my wallet in my back pocket. Sure enough, I started carrying it in my front pocket and it seemed to improve over time.
Try it out!

i don't believe in that stuff. girl at work told me to go to one and they'd cure my deafness. i'm 100% deaf in my right ear due to a dead nerve. it's irrepairable, inoperable, hearing aids won't help, etc. i didn't laugh so i wouldn't embarrass her at work, but people that believe that chiropractors can cure anything need to take some medical classes.
as for those that believe they can help with back problems, i bet physical exercise, good posture, and frequent massages would accomplish the same exact thing.

not really. Its a different type of pain. If you pop your knuckles, youll know what I mean when your fingers start to hurt really bad and then you crack them and it feels all better again. Its got to do with the pressure between the disks. Also, your spine can be out of alignment. Like John said though, there is always a cause, but for alot of us, you cant cure the cause because its everyday life. I throw around cabinets and countertops all day. Nothing I can do about that, but change jobs.

Ive never been but id be afraid they would fuck something else up. Id like to get a massage since John lacks in that area.

I was always interested in them before I went, but when I did I was completely surprised by how much pain I had been in before and didn't even realize it. As far as working out and better posture helping, I completely agree with you there -- but it goes even more the other way. After regular visits, I could work out longer with NO pain except good old tired muscles, and got tons of compliments on my posture. Now, it hurts my neck to do crunches, and I'm getting portly and slumpy.

I would never go to one. I've had back problems my entire life, and seeing a chiropractor has never entered into my mind. Chiro's make you dependant on the "adjustments" instead of figuring out what the problem is, and taking the proper route for treatment.

So... you voted for option four.

I was working out heavily, then a slipped disk in my neck stopped that quickly one day. I went, they started working my neck...it started feeling better. BUt I have quit going bacause of insurance reasons, so im trying to work the muscles around the neck to help support it. also I lost ffeeling in my ring and pinky fingers on my left hand. He was able to fix that as well.

Never been. I've always stuck to going to massage therapists that specialize in athletic people/sports related injury.
So the chiro never *actually* fixes anything? If you have to keep going?

I think its more psychological... Im sure it loosens you up and takes some tehnsion out but your not going to give sight to the blind and make paraplegics walk. Its purely a positive physical sensation, nothing more.
But it sure as hell feels good...
