Been thinking about it.. it'd be nice to be able to breathe again and not be out of breath when I go upstairs and make the bed...

Anyone quit smoking?
What works other than cold turkey, the patch, or gum?
Let's be honest here... cold turkey, the patch, the gum... they don't work. Simple as that.

Was thinking about looking into hypnotism... heard it works... as long as you're able to be hypnotized....

Someone here at work said something about a lazer dealy thing... anyone ever hear of it? And what the hell do they lazer exactly?

There's the perscription you can go on, which cuts it out cold turkey, but you gain weight on it. My dad and his wife went on it before they stopped talking to me. It worked like a charm for them.

Ive been clean for 8 weeks. I still have to deal with it everyday. Its hard for me cause ive smoked for many years. For me, its all mental. I weighed the positives verses the negatives. I know i would die a miserable death from them eventally. I got tired of being controlled by cigs. Im breathing much better, and feel better in general. I have abdominal problems and smoking makes me feel worse. Its very difficult to stop and stay stopped. But its worth it in the short and long run. You can look at yourself in the miror and be proud of yourself for taking back control of yourself as a person. Even though i still have the urge, I know smoking is no longer an option in my mind. Take about 6 fast and very deep breathes. All air in and out. Then i feel dizzy and i dont want to smoke. Thus, the urge passes. Take contol, you can do it if you believe youre worth it. :)

+1 For cold turkey / I quit 3 years ago...I know it sounds hard, but it's possible...you start to hate the smell and the taste...and you feel so much better when you save that $$!!

all 3 of my uncles quit cold turkey. You have to WANT to quit. Its a mental thing. Scare yourself or find a good reason why you want to quit and then do it.

I quit cold turkey 7 years ago as a new years resolution. It was hard for the first couple months going to bars and clubs. After awhile watching people smoke disgusted me.

Today is my first day not smoking...cold turkey. I've smoked since I was 13, I'm 23 now.

I quit smoking for almost 2 weeks. I was always around Patrick and he hates when I smoke, also he kept me occupied enough to take my mind off it. Then we broke up... again... and I didn't even realize I was smoking untill I went to put it out.

Dude, having one every once in awhile doesn't make me a smoker. When you see me BUYING a pack, or running around crazy trying to find one, then you can talk shit.

I say good job to everyone that quits. You will thank yourself later. Its so nice to be smoke free. Its still not easy for me after about 9 weeks but its so worth it. Ahhhhhh.... it feels so good to breathe.

That's the truth. I loved it! I mean the only reason i quit is because i started working out and eating right, so smoking just had to stop.

My thing with smoking is that I don't drink alcohol. When I'm out with people, everyone is drinking and what am I to do? Sit there and drink my tea/soda/water? No...I'll smoke. I know it's not a good excuse, lol

Anyway...It's been since Saturday morning @8am since I've had a cigarette. Let's hope I can make it through the day @ work with my "smoking partners" come break time.

then i suggest you start drinking. alcohol is a much more socially acceptable vice, and it makes other people look better, so it's a win/win.

you're welcome for this wise advice.

you can only do that after a long time after quitting, don't fool yourself

I really like smoking, but it's pricey, and it's kind of getting old. So I think maybe it's time for me to cave in like the rest of you quitters.

I disagree, i've been having the occasional cigarette while out, and it doesn't make it any worse for me, my cravings are all but gone, i have no desire to have one unless i'm around people smoking and i'm bored.

So you mean to tell me if I used to smoke crack, stopped, then only smoked when my friends were around that I wouldn't be a crackhead? I don't get it?

Vito I am not tring to bust your balls, but these people are right! Quiting means you dont do it any more, period. You still have the every so often cig then you have not quit, you have cut back a lot which I appluad you for, but you have not quit yet. If you truly had no urge to smoke anymore you would never do it again even if you are around people that do. Its hard and I hope you eventually quit, thats shit sucks.

Ok. Apparently you people think i somehow feel the need to justify myself to you, well I DON'T. I don't give a fuck if you think i've quit or not, i'm damn happy with my current situation, and THAT is all that matter to me. So, to those who were positive, thanks, and to those who weren't, get a fucking clue and figure out that i don't care what you understand or how you FEEL about MY life.

Have a nice day.

I dont think anyone thinks you need to justify yourself, just that if you quit you no longer smoke at all. Cutting back from a pack + a day to a couple a week in my book is a great improvement. I think people were just pointing out the fact the you have not fully quit if you cont to do it even if its one a month. No need to be offended or get pissed off I think everyone hopes that you quit and hopes everyone that wants to quit, quits.

almost 1 week as a non-smoker. I can already inhale a lot deeper, and I can SMELL cigarette smoke on people now.

the smell of it is raunchy. I was actually watching people @ QS&L smoke last night and I missed the physical part of smoking...the hand to mouth aspect. That's it.

Plus, I'll save $80 this paycheck.
