damn i remember when i was a kid that was like 5%, I used to have a savings account until I realized I was making more interest off my checking account than my savings.

wow this low prime rate really affects it. How long ago was it 5%? I was looking at charts and prime used to be like 12% at one time now it's 6.25%

I have an IMMA account with a Credit Union and the interest rate is pretty high on that. You have to have $2000, but every $5000 after that raises the rate by a certain %.

savings accounts are fairly useless in my opinion. if you're looking for good interest over the long haul, research some mutual funds. if you need to keep your assets fairly liquid but still earn points, get a money market account.

are money market accounts safe? What is the deal with them? Have people lost money in them?
