help with microsoft works?

Alright I am trying to use works to write a letter and for some reason it is messed up. Probably from me letting idiots use my pc. I type normally and I get these signs after every line that look like the arrow on the return key, and has bullets (dots) where the spaces should be. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

No ideas people. I found that if I print the doc it comes out correctly, but its sure is annoying as all hell.

It's either in the 'view' or 'format' area. Not familiar with the program, but I know what you are talking about.
