Last night I worked out my shoulders pretty hard, problem is... I feel no soreness or pain whatsoever. Usually when I get a good workout in, I feel the results, this time it feels like I wasted my time. I did Arnold Presses, Behind Necks, Front raises, lateral raises, rear lateral raises, bent over rows, and upright rows. 5 sets each exercise - increasing 5 lbs each set, decreasin 2 reps each set. I felt like I pushed my self pretty hard, so whats wrong? I normally do more weight, less reps (5 reps or less each set). Should I go back to my old workout of more weight less reps? Or is that not a hard enough workout? I also noticed this with my chest routine when I started doing more reps, less weight. I think I might go back to More weight, althought I wanted to start off slow since I havent lifted in months.

Your probably doing the same exercise for the same body group every week and your body has grown accustomed to it. Change the order you do the exercises, the amount of reps, and the amount of weight.

For example, if you start off with arnolds usually put them last and go to a different exercise like military press as a first exercise.

It also sounds like you arent increasing weight. Your going to have to really start increasing the weight every one-two weeks if you want to see results, even if its only 5lbs more a week on barbell.

Good luck.

Bent over rows are back, fyi. And yea, switch up your routine a little. You're also doing A LOT of exercises, you might be overtraining, or simply not working HARD enough.

Thanks a lot. I'll try going in a different order and maybe adding more weight. I wish I had a spotter to help me with afew forced reps.

I concur. When im doing shoulders, after the 3rd set of anything i do, I can barely lift my arms high enough to grab the wheel and shift gears.

I was actually in pure pain from biceps last night after set 3. I couldn't even pull my gloves off when I was done. Shit, they still hurt like hell today.

sounds like the workout was geared more toward cutting than bulking, which, at least for me, has never resulted in soreness like bulking workouts do.

Yea I'm going back to 5-4-3-2-1 rep work outs, with more weight

Too many sets man. IMO, an easy bulking routine is 12-10-8, or 10-8-6, increasing the weight with each set.

Feeling of soreness means nothing, keep the workout for acouple weeks to see if your seeing results, rep schymes are retarded everyones different. Your working out for overload not fatigue. Try 1 move for each delt, 1 move for traps and so on, lift heavy and vary your reps until you find one that works for you. As long as your eatting right you'll grow.

Im not sore allot either right aftwards.. yeah driving is funny as hell, but it usually takes a day or two for it to hit me.

I try to switch up, watch others. See what excercise they do. Ive only been working back out regularly for 3-4 weeks now. Starting to see a difference.

I stray from anything behind the neck. Too unnatural for me, and puts allot of stress on my shoulders. I do front raises, sitting presses, shrugs. (sorry I dont know the tech names) they all seem to work allot for me.
