I recently signed up for a new credit card. I had never used the card, and thus never checked my billing statement. Come to find out by checking online I had a $39.00 "New member fee" as well as late charges for not having paid this fee.
I called the company, told them I wanted the account cancelled. They said it would take 5-7 business days for the request for all of the fee's to be waived to be checked. My brother called and was told that the late fee's would negatively effect my credit.
I have no clue what to do. I'm going to call back in a week to check on the fee's getting waived, but I'm wondering where to go from there. I could use some advice.
