You got 10k?
The highest place I found locally is Intervest National. I think 3.88% 2,500 min. 1 year

not sure i'd lock up my money in any CDs now. You can get savings accounts that pay over 3%... back in the 80's when mortgages were at 15%, CDs were paying 8-9%, so pay off your debt and hope the housing bubble bursts and interest rates go up.

4% is not what i'd consider a good return. for the low risk portion of your portfolio though, i'd recommend it.

Just give it a couple of years. I'm sure we'll be right back at that spot. Just make sure you lock in all of your loans now :)

+1, not worth <1% to me to have it locked up for a year...

Do you really think the rates would change enough to make it NOT worth a 6 month cd? I mean when is the fed supposed to raise prime again?

I would never take 'Bankrate.com' as concrete evidence. Always check with the individual bank.

Replying to myself here..... I just looked around some more and found a few articles from 2000 and 2001 that talked about CD rates hovering around 7-8% (at that time).. I found some stuff about CDs in the 80s being up in the 12-13% range. Kind of funny how we get all excited when ING bumps from 3% to 3.15% :dunce:
