Ok, well i want better abs. I want them well defined, but i dont wanna look like a fitness model either. I do leg lifts and regular crunches but they dont seem to help for my lower stomach. Ive been doing leg throws, but i now have no1 to do them with. I have my top two abs visable, but the other 4 arent. Any good exercises i can do to help my lower and middle abs out?

crunches wont have have an effect unless your fat deposits are already gone. Your going to have to run and eat different. what kind of meals are you eating?
Crunches will actually make you look alittle "bigger". You abdominal muscles will get bigger, but your fat deposits are still their. If you run the fat off, the muscle will be visible. However they are not a large enough group that they will burn the fat off by themselves from crunches like a larger body group would. For instance, if you do squats your ass will get more muscular. Thats because its a huge muscle group.

Im not fat or n e thing, but i see what ur saying about the deposits. Problem is i cant run a lot because i have bad asthma. So that makes it even harder to attain a nice stomach. I need this by like Late February.. early march. and thats like workin out 3 times a week. i want a NICE 6 pack by then. im 4'11 83 lbs. so i mean.. hopefully i can get the look i want. The meals i eat are normal. Cereal for breakfast, i eat A LOT of grapes during the day, and i eat a good meal at night. Im not a junk food eater really at all, but i do pick at random foods during the day.

I've noticed exactly what you are saying. I do crunches but eat horrible. As soon as I begin to watch what I eat, and actually eat healthy, they are much more defined. Luckily my body reacts pretty quick.
PlayMate - I will occassionally speed walk w/ the dog and alternate running a every other block. I haven't done that lately but instead have been doing Tae-Bo. It helps burn fat and the one place I really notice it is in my abs and legs when I'm done. For my lower abs I used to also lay on the ground, push the top of my head against the couch, and grab under the couch over my head, then do leg lifts. I don't how good that is though because my lower back would get sore.

So ur gettin good results from tae bo? Ive only done 10 mins of it once but i wanted to buy it so bad! im a dancer/gymnast so i believe tae bo would be great to work all my muscles. Thanks for the advice on that, im gonna see where i can buy the dvds from :D But as for the couch workout, i dont think i can do those, i hurt my lower back a while ago and my tailbone acts up a lot latly. But im going to try them n e way! lol

Thanks for that, I feel old now . Anyway, I was trying to find you some links but there are so many. If you are interested, just do a search for Tae Bo and a bunch will come up w/ all the dvd's available. I know everyone is diferent, but I see results in it after just a couple times doing it. I'm not good w/ cardio, but I can do this and it works the abs well. (depending which dvd you do ;) )

dancing and gymnastics dont involve running.. unless your funninh 5 feet to do a handspring or something? I mean CONSISTANT running.. as in like a 1/2 mile or more. That makes me not breathe well. Dancing i get winded, and same with gymnastics. but not bad enough to have to stop.

I've got the "get ripped" 3 dvd set. But you can buy them individually. You may want to just try the Get Ripped Basic 1 & 2 dvd. The workouts are 30 min ea. It's the second in the set. The first is the intro and how to do everything (you may want that too) and the Advanced is more intense and may be hard w/ asthma. The advanced are hour long workouts.
I don't think the one I mentioned is as intense as the bootcamp one, but not sure.

If you cant run more than 1/2 a mile at once do 1/2 a mile before you eat breakfast when you wake up and 1/2 mile at around 7:00 p.m
Also, you need to eat ALOT. I know it sounds goofy but you have to, only you eat 5-7 very small meals spread through the day so that your body burns off EVERYTHING.
When you only eat 2-3 large meals a day your body cannot burn off all the calories. Heres an example that you may be able to put into perspective. Put one big coat of nail polish as opposed to a bunch of thin coats. What dries faster and looks better, the multiple small coats right? Well the same principle holds true for weightlifting and getting cut. Eat small meals, many of them. Throw some protein in your diet (keep your minds clean gentlemen lol). If your a vegetarian eat soy patties and stuff, if your not have lean cuts of beef, chicken, and of course lots of fish. Salads should also be incoporated (only dressing should be vinigarrete homemade, not storebough crap). Salads with very little condiment (as in NO ranch, 1000 island ...) have very little caloric value but make you feel full, which means youll be less likey to snack or binge.
Also, your breakfast is very poor. For my breakfasts I usually have a bowl of grape nuts, two tbsp honey and an egg. Your going to have to mix up your diet.
Try eating less grapes and having oranges, apples, other fruits in general (stay away from tropical fruits, high sugar content). Also, if you are able too eat lots of sweet potatos, lots of nutrients.
Diet is more than 50% of your results, which is why I emphasized it.
If your not drinking alot of water (a 3/4 gallon a day for your size) then you should. 1 litre of cold water, like the stuff from a fridge burns off 100 calories, and all you did was have water. The reason is your body is using energy to heat that water up (calories are a measure of energy).
If you have any questions feel free to post. Most of the people here are for getting bigger... But Im in my cutting phase and can probably help alittle more.

Do you mean the round ball or the half ball? I use the ball for my crunches 3 days a week. It works much better than laying on the floor. It actually doesnt hurt your back.

Another vote for the ball. It will save your back (important for me) and it will work out all the little mucles because you have to balance on it. Pay attention to where you place your hands. If you keep them low, by your sides, it will work your lower abs. If you place your hands behind your head (don't touch your head though) it will hit your upper abs. Leg lifts are another good exercise. Place the ball in between your feet and touch the ball with your hands as you raise it up.
Abs are a PIA...for me atleast. I bust my ass on it and the progress is VERY slow. Much slower than any other muscle group it seems. Fat in that area is a bitch to get rid of.
EDIT: Because your 4'11, you might want to deflate the ball some. If it's fully inflated, it's probably too big for you and that may be why you had trouble balancing on it.

How do you do gymnastics/dance but can't do cardio and can't balance your back on a ball? I don't get it. If you are a gymnast/dancer like you say you are, you're probably already doing enough cardio. The ball isn't hard at all. It saves your lower back the pain, plus it works all the muscles in your core. But gymnasts/dancers work those muscles already.
