In about 1 1/2-2 months...I'm going to have a pretty major cosmetic surgery (breast reduction). Most of you guys have seen me, and I'm pretty chubby. I've always been ok with it...but now, well...I'm SOOOOO not ok with it. It's gotten to the point where it's just got to change.
I've quit smoking...I'm getting the reduction (which will take 6.2 lbs off)...then I will start working out & I plan on making a complete body transformation. I've already started my dieting. No more fried foods or soda (unless I have a diet soda to ween myself off of the caffiene). Low calorie foods, about 75 oz of water daily.
My question is this (and I know my doctor has the ultimate say in this, I just want some opinions)...:besides walking..what are some light exersized I can do while I still have the stitches...or do you think I should lay off of the exersize all together? I'll probably have a total of 60 stitches. I don't want to tear the stitches because I want the scars to heal to thier fullest potential.
Do you think walking will be fine? ...do you think anything more could have the potential to damage the healing process? I wont be able to lift my arms for a few weeks.
Thanks in advance...
Billy

Definitely something light and low intensity. Keeping active in some way during the down time will be key so you don't lose motivation and don't lose to much progress you've already made before the surgery. And just remember to stop the second you start to feel any pain or stretching along the site of the sutures.

I would say no physical activity while you have stitches in. Even if you could do exercises that won't involve your torso at all (can't move your torso if you've got stitches in it), You'll still sweat, especially in the area of your stitches since its a skin fold. I wouldn't want to sweat into an open wound.
Have you asked your doctor whether you should work out and drop some weight before the reduction since you may lose breast size with a reduction in body fat

Thanks for your reply. I have talked to the dr. about this. The thing is...I weighed 35 lbs less about 3/ 1/2 years ago. I was a DD then. The dr. said if I lose the 35 again, I'll probably go back to a DD, depending on where I lose the weight first. My ultimate goal is to be a full C..so I'd still have to get the reduction. The dr. said it's going to make no difference if I get the reduction before or after I lose the weight.
I just don't want to be in "time out" with excersize for 6 weeks and then possibly lose the motivation.

Will you be going to the gym, or doing these exercises at home?
Because if you go to the gym, I don't see why you couldn't do machines like the leg press, and at least work your leg muscles out.
But Fordified did have a good point about the sweating issue.
Either way girl, good luck with the surgery, and I'm proud that you quit smoking. :)

I would be too. I curse the day someone decided to add "breast reduction" to the cosmetic surgery list, its a gift...
