Does anybody do any riding out here, or atleast know of some good places
to ride ROAD bikes without having to worry about major traffic?
Right now I live in Valrico and the only place I usually go is Bayshore which
is cool but I need a change in scenery.
Ideas would be appreciated and if anyone wants to ride just shoot me a PM.

I ride my mountain bike on the Upper Tampa Bay Trail like 3-5 times per week.

I've recently been wanting to get into road biking.....but I'm clueless as to what bikes are good and what gear to get or anything at all. Plus I'm not thrilled of the idea of having to get a bike rack on my car just to take it somewhere to ride where I don't have to worry so much about getting killed.

+1 for the Upper Tampa Bay Trail...
Will where do you pick the trail up/end? We normally pick it up at Linebaugh/Wilsky and head up around the Citrus Park Mall area...

I do not cycle, but I do like wearing bright yellow cycling outfits at the gym.

Huh, maybe we can get a ride in one day. Frances and I have been going, but it's been sporadic at best.

Yes there are alot of things to consider in getting a bike. I'll can tell you what I look for is how light the bike is, what type of components such as gear
shifts, delurs(sp), crank and so on. Crappy components make a crappy bike.
Its funny also how bikes are like cars when it comes to model years. Say for instance my bike. I saved 300 bucks because my bike was an 03 model and
I bought in 04 and it was basically the same bike just a different color.
As far as gear goes, get you a good helmet for starters so you wont look like this :tard: if you go splat. Also get some clip style pedals and shoes. This makes pedaling effortless.

im buying a bike soon, I wanna start riding again, but I will have go work into it, Im sure im not ready yet for anything over 2 miles
Usually when i bike, i either do Pinellas Park Trail or Downtown St Pete/Snell Isle Neighborhood. it takes you right along the shoreline and past the Vinoy and then into downtown past the pier. It's a great scenery. I'm thinking about trying to bike Gandy Bridge this week.

I'd like to go mountain biking. I've invested in a pretty decent bike which gets me around. I find the ultmate irony in the fact that if I want to go somewhere safe to go biking, I had to drive to get there. I hate riding on the streets of north Tampa.
I ride... but I ride a mountain bike... and I also just ride from Macdill (halfway between gandy and interbay) to bayshore, onto davis island, down to the yacht club, and back... so nothing really new there. I would guess the tampa bay trail might be a good option for you.
