I dont like listening to main stream crap like fitty, game, and that Jay-z feller. What do you listen to when no listening to the norm?

Lookup backpacker choices. Usually tons of good shit.
My definition of underground is something you only find demos, samples, mixes, LPs of in back alleyways of Queens/Brooklyn.
I'm assuming you mean just not main stream
In the case, Big L, Sage Francis, Aesop Rock, Hieroglyphics, Monch, RZA.. I'll add more later. I'm rap deficient lately, missing that harddrive.

Yeah I should have worded that a little different. I was meaning the combination of non-mainstream and underground. When I was growing up in Cali people would come by and sell their tape for like 5 dollars. There was some really good music on those. Ill check out backpacker choices

by backpacker choices, I mean lookup backpacker groups and see what they're choices are.. backpackers.. are.. i guess the scenesters of hiphop. they carry backpacks around NY full of hiphop/underground cds.. just lookup backpackers hiphop you'll find something.
gangstarr.. ex girl to the next girl! cant believe i forgot him
shaggys choices are good, not big on Eyedeas non-battle songs, but Cannibal Ox is the shit. Strawberry fields i think was my favorite song.

Pretty much everything Shaggy listed. These are a few extras I've been listening to-
MF Doom/Viktor Vaughn/King Geedorah and any of the Doom collabs
Quasimoto/J Dilla
MC Paul Barman (quirky but funny)
Mobb Deep
Monsta Island Czars (unpolished but has some good tracks)
Defari (hit or miss)
Phil Da Agony (same as defari, hit or miss)
Older stuff like Group Home & Smif-n-Wesson had some pretty nice beats but the lyrics can be painful at times to listen to.
