If you are denied credit you are entitled to a free copy of your credit report correct? What is the process for obtaining this free copy? A friend of mine was turned down for a low interest loan. He was approved for a higher interest loan, but wants a copy of his report to see what's on there.

If he hasn't yet, have him contact the credit bureau(s) that denied him and they will send him a free credit report. It's either Equifax, Experian or Trans Union.

If it comes straight from the credit bureau would it still show as an inquiry on you credit report? Just curious because I know an excessive amount of inquiries is not good either.

technically, you get counted for two inquiries. The first for when you applied for credit, which is a negative mark. The second when you got your credit report sent to you, which means nothing derogatory towards your score. You can check your own CR from here until next new years and not do anything bad to your score.
