And im seriously not impressed. We waited how many years for this? Currently half way thru it, I sure hope it gets better. Songs just seem to drag on and have any feel or energy. The overall aggression from the previous albumns seems to be gone too.

The aggression is not there, I consider it more of an ambiance record with some heavier sections. IMO it is a great CD.

It's good, not amazing like some of their earlier albums.

he's gotten older now, he doesnt have that real aggressive sound he used to. If you listened to his last album, he went more ambient with his sound. Still, track 2,4, and 8 are really good, and for more soulful, I really really like track 1. Its a multi listen album

I mirror what John said.

Think about this, Jerm...even slipknot has mellowed out. It comes with age I suppose.

I peronsally think the new slipknot is kinda shitty though. I dont by the whole age with slipknot, with NIN I could a little. I think with NIN, trent ran outta ideas or was just going in a different direction or both.

I do believe its sign of longevity if you are a good band and can maintain the same side year after year and yet still sound fresh and enjoying. Iron Maiden really hasnt changed all that much in almost 30 years, they still rock out each albumn.

Btw John, you going to see NIN in October?

Every NIN album has had a different sound. You can't really try to compare them.

I love the album.

i like more off this album than i have off any of his others. i've never been a nin fan, but i've learned to at least respect trent reznor as a musician. (monkey's doing, of course.)

the new NIN and anything trent's put out, has been excellent. you disagree because its not what you expected. the problems not with the cd, its with you having expectations. this cd and his others are a story of his life, and this is a part of his life hes currently going through....if you listen to the words, you'll find the album is excellent, i learned something from myself from listening to it.

I agree I like the new nin, for some reason or another nin albums always seem to realate to my life in some way or another. I'll be at the show too, I have never been able to go to a nin concert.
