I know theres probably a reason for this but why when prices are advertised for something its always $19.99 or $39.99, why cant it just be $20 or $40? Or new BMW's at $59,999.99, do we really need to save that 1 penny?

it appears to be less money, thus more appealing.

The same reason why low 200's sounds better than high 100's.

It's a psychological thing. When you see 19.99 your brain is more attracted to it than a price of 20.00. Even if you tell yourself it doesn't, it does. Same thing when they say "It'll cost you less than $200." And the price is really $199.99

Believe it or not, it works for some people, like my wife. She'll say "oh, its only $3". I look and it says $3.99. Bugs the crap out of me but I love her anyway.

Yeah, I'd probably crash my car if I went past a gas station and saw gas for $.$$ and no 9/10!

(note, I put $.$$ to represent whatever exorbitant amount gas will cost when you wake up tomorrow and read this)
