So, we know everybody is investing in real estate now a days...but what are some stocks you would consider buying. A mix of steady earners and high risk stocks.

Screw stocks. Your better off going to vegas and spending your money there. At least if you spend a lot they give you a free hotel room or maybe a jet ride in...

I always thought stocks were a good long-term investment. Many companies offer dividends, and others will actually send you coupons for free/discounted stuff from their companies if you are a stockholder.

it's not that stocks are a bad investment. it's that investing in any one stock is an infinitely bigger risk than investing in a multitude of stocks. a diversified portfolio is always a desireable thing. mutual funds are an easy way to do that. i've had awful luck with stock speculation, and been very pleased with the return off my mutual fund.

That's why I'm wanting to get different suggestions. I'm not looking to put all my eggs in one basket.

www.hotstockmarket.com

lots of good info on there, alot of players starting momentum picks though, they post about a certain penny stock, a bunch of forum members buy and hold while the thread starter takes profit and ditches the thread lol.

just by reading the finance section of the newspaper over the past couple weeks i've come across a handful of four star no load mutual funds... do some research. there are a million options and a lot of good advice out there.

yeah, the thing with mutual funds though, its only going to be as good as the portfolio manager. Seen some with HUGE gains one year, they shuffle the mutual funds holdings a little and the next year the returns are crappy. If you're going to go with mutual funds, I'd pick a handful to diversify the portfolio managers as well as the individual stocks.
