Big Jim has a pounding skull headache. I usually get them around my forehead, but this one seems to be on the top of my head and about 2 inches in front and up from my ears. What headache medicines work best for you?

excedrine migraine, hands down. also, drink diet cokes or anything diet with caffeine, and drink water. most headaches are caused by dehydration. this causes your arteries and veins to constrict which hurts your head. water fixes the dehydration, and caffeine dialates your arteries and veins (allowing more blood to flow).

Thanks moldyhands!
Drop a 45lb plate on your foot. If you do it right your foot will hurt worse than your head. You will soon forget all about that headache.
Or you could try Moldy's idea.

Big Jim's father used to say that. He saved hundreds on headache medicine that way.

Caffeine doesnt dialiate your veins. Its constricts them. The only thing that dialiates them is a hemodialiator (NO2 for example). The Excedrine Migraine always works for me, or if its a sinus migraine, I take Sudafed.

You can see that caffeine also causes the brain's blood vessels to constrict, because it blocks adenosine's ability to open them up. This effect is why some headache medicines like Anacin contain caffeine -- if you have a vascular headache, the caffeine will close down the blood vessels and relieve it.

i stand corrected, actually i'm sitting... either way, caffeine's a great tool for getting rid of headaches. i always thought it dialated them, oh well, it fucking works.

Thanks Country Boy. Big Jim appreciates the link. I always wondered what caffiene did for you. I have this Tylenol with codeine + caffeine I got last time I was in Canada. It generally works, but maybe I shouldn't use it if it has the caffeine. Excedrin it is then! Thanks again.

BC powder is the magic remedy for my headaches. Take one or two, lie down for 15 minutes, good to go.

Nothing over the counter works for mine. The only thing that occaisionally does is BC powder also.

Vicodin ;)
But since that's not readily available, I use Excedrine. It never used to wrok for me until I stopped drinking soda. Now an Excedrine and a Coke normally take care of it.
