I live in College Coutts of 56th Street, and personally think its a shit hole, for how much I pay for rent, i dont get anything, except easy access to parties, and no parking. There are some good things about this place, but If i could choose again it wouldn't be here. Anyone else have any suggestions of some good complexes or any I should stay away from?

Compton Place in Tampa Palms is pretty nice.... high ceilings, big living room, dining room, kitchen, washer dryer in unit, free water....doesnt have creeky floors

i think they have a promotion 2 months free rent right now

its 845 for 2bed, 2bath... so with 2 months free rent that saves you 1700 so thats like taking off about 140 a month so it works out to 700 a month...about 5 miles from usf or 4miles if you take 42nd shortcut

Hey Tony! Good to see you post. Maybe I'll catch you on campus sometime.

Anyhow, that seems like a great deal. Any idea about one bedrooms? I would assume $600+.

I'll vouch for Compton Place too, they are the nicest in the USF area. Well, theyre the nicest under $1k a month anyway. My and my roommate looked at literaly 30 appts in the are and none are even close. Plus when you factor in the 2 free for signing up for 15, they end up being cheaper. They wont prorate the 2 free, which kinda sucks, but still a good deal. Just dont let them tell you that theyre working on getting the gate fixed, 'cause it'll never happen.

You should create your own name, it doesn't take long.

I know one I would stay away from. The apt. complex on the corner of 50th street and Fletcher is a real craphole. Some friends of mine lived there and the apartment was in bad shape, and the maintenance guys never fixed any of the major issues they discovered, like huge water leaks and water damage that led to mold.

Yea, you're better off in Tampa Palms ... farther down on Bruce B Downs ... the closer you get to USF, the more ghetto it is .. believe me, a friend got shot over there in the Remington

new tampa isn't so great these days either. but as for shopping around for a place to live stay at college court for the year and keep your eye open on good areas/ bad ones. and find a place where you would want to live. I live just past 56th off Fowler and its really nice here so far (5 months and counting)

worst places are campus walk townhomes, springwood apartments, jefferson commons, and avalon hieghts. these apartments are all shitty in every way you can think of. DO NOT MOVE TO THESE PLACES.

places i might recommend for college students who want a little wieght off your pockets. reflections is mediocre and cheap, campus walk is somewhat the same if you catch a move in special, breckenridge is fairly decent as well.

if you got money. an apartment complex called the arbors. which is right off of fletcher directly before the exit for i75 is very nice, but a little expensive tho

go to www.apartmentratings.com and check out apartments you might think about moving into and see what other people say.

the ones i named i've either lived there or known people that live there.

any other suggestions, I too am interested in moving within the next couple months. I'm @ 56th and Fowler right now and looking for a 1bedroom/1bath

I looked a compton place, it looks like a good deal...very big places...over 1k sqft for a 1bedroom is pretty damn good

i can vouch for that. this is my last month here and within a 6 month period ive had one car stolen and one car broken into. The apartments are mediocre and there raising the rent. so defenitly stay away from there.

Well they did have it fixed, but residents kept forcing the gate open and broke it again. I watched them twice when I came home from work :squint:

i lived in the arbors for 2 yrs.... 1st yr was great, 2nd yr the place started to go downhill and got ghetto. New management took over and ya they suck!! Its over priced for what you get. Shit, just just recently got brighthouse, before that it was TVMAX and ya, talk about the suck!!!

I lived at Southern Oaks Apartments off of 15th and Fletcher, the surrounding area is not a place you want to walk around, but it was cheap and the people who ran it were really really nice. They have 2bed 1 bath for around $530. Can't beat it. But the area is really bad.

s86d: Where do you live and how much do you pay a month? You can PM me if you don't want to discuss money over the internet. Chante's place is really overpriced, so it would be helpful to find a great place.

Does anybody else have any positives about living in apartments around USF?

The Preserves at Temple Terrace is nice. Flethcer right before the Arbors, near Telecom Parkway. Across the street from the Shell station.
