Should I do cardio prior to weights or vise versa...or it doesnt fucking matter. Ive been doing 10-15mins on the tread to warm up and then 20-30 on the bike after weights. Just wanna make sure Im not doing shit backwards.
Im getting a sharp pain in my forearm where it meets my elbow. Almost like chin split or pinched nerve type of sensation. It started last week, tried to work through it and couldnt. Its if I do any type of curl. I was doing stand up curls on a machine proper stance and motion, moderate weight between 80-110lbs. It will not go away now, went to work it out tonight thinking I had let it rest enough but after the second or third lift I had to instantly drop the bar, and it felt as if they had locked up and almost put me to the floor:(...WTF? Oh, I do about 10 mins of stretching and a few other excersises prior to this workout.
Shit, now that I think of it my left shoulder is clicking like a mofo when I do pull downs. Again...moderate weight 100-160 lbs. No real pain though, just a loud ass clicking noise(back straight, chin up, arms spread even with shoulders, slow concentrated motions, no snapping back up).......I finally have gotten into a good routine and I feel like Im falling apart.

I had the same thing happen to my forearm/elbow. Anytime I would do curls it felt like someone was stabbing me in this area. It actually forced me to quit doing curls b/c I could never figure out why I was getting the pain. Hopefully someone can shed some info on this!

I get a sharp pain in my elbow after using heavy weights, but it goes away after a few minutes after the set. Now throught the day, my elbow will get a sharp pain and feel like its locking up and itll pop. I know how you feel though about falling apart. When I started, I was on the treadmill alot and got shin splints on both legs, tore a neck muscle, new things started to hurt and all kinds of shit.

The opinions may differ when it comes to your question regarding cardio. I do my cardio after weights. The reason why I do this is because your body needs to burn off all its blood surgar first before tapping into the fat for energy. Doing the weights before gets rid of the blood sugar. The way you're doing it so far sounds good to me.
As far as your elbow, I had the same thing happen to me but only when I did behind the neck press or tricep extentions. This was due to me falling in a drunken stupor. Took me a couple of months to get over it.

It really depends on what your main goal in the gym is. Mine is to lose weight, so I always did cardio first. Donnie's main goal is to put on mass, so he would probably work out first. Although a case has been made that doing cardio gets your blood flowing and acts as a good stretch for the workout to follow.

You, my friend, are describing "The Bone" as it is referred to in the medical field (please disregard that). I get that allot to, do you do barbell curl or db curls?
I did not get it with db but did with bb... with me it especially hurt when putting the weight back down. No, it is not a nerve issue it's from having your wrist suppinated (palm up) while curling and it's putting stress on the tendon.
I do what you do with cardio, the 10-15 you do to warm up gets your hr up and you can keep it there while lifting which will burn more cals, then you hit your whole cardio after the weights so you did not tire yourself out from doing it b4. I actually only warm up for about 8 min.

edit* we must have hit the button at the same time.
Im cool with the cardio now, thanks guys. Im sincerely concerned about the sharp pains...stand up curls, and preacher curls are probably my favorite workout!!! Someone told me that my muscle may be developing faster than my ligements in my elbow and forearm area and may be overstretching. But he isnt into working out so I dont know how valid his advice is:dunno:

well it hurts both on the way up, but yes the most on the way down. Im doing a barbell curl Im not to fond* of db's. Let me tell you though that the pain is unbearable!!! After I set them down I usually let out a loud yell and have to shake my arms off to help the pain go away. Should I get wrist straps? Would it help with maybe keeping the wrist straight and why do you and me get this but not everyone else? Improper form overdevelopment in that area.....Im curious?

I dont think straps will help with the curls much...
But, the type of bar that you're using may affect the pain alot.
Are you using a straight bar or the "EZ" curl bar ?

The EZ bar allows a grip that is more comfortable and puts less strain on your wrists and forearms.
The straight bar hits the muscle differently, and if that's all you have to use, try widening your grip to where its less painful.

i only get the bone when im doing straight bar curls
about 6-8 months ago, i was getting very sharp pains in my wrist, enough to make me complete stop using any barbell for ANY workout on my upper body. I used machines for about 3 weeks and when i started doing barbell again, i used some thumbloop wrist straps and it seemed to help. I dont use them anymore b/c i dont get constant paint (like i said, only when i do straightbar curls) they were 11 bucks @ play it again. Its worth a shot.

No problem...it may be worth it just to invest in an EZ bar..

I tried moving to the EZ bar and no luck, I have to stick to bb... not sure why you do not like them??
Do concentration curls, reverse, and hammer. Good stuff!

I have the same probblem as donnie , I did not figure it out and never wanted to do curls.
So what I did after thinking for about 2 weeks is why not try less weight ALOT more reps ....Seems to be working so far and my form had to be perfect bending my wrist backwards just a tad so i put more strain on my forearm then my wrist.
SO far working well but I still get it sometimes and i just go down about 15 lbs and rep it out for a week and go back up...

I started doing a 10 minute warm up on the tread mill or jogging outside before I do weights. Then after I do weights I do 15-20 more minutes of cardio. I used to do all of my cardio prior until I heard it's better to do most of it after. I don't really lose my energy for weights though even if I do all of the cardio before. :dunno:

Again, it depends on your goals. There is no blanket answer (after). If your main goal is to lose weight, do the cardio first. If your main goal is to develop muscle, work out first.

Who in the fuck goes and hits weights for 40 mins to an hour and does cardio right after? If you can do cardio after you lift, you're bullshitting when it comes to the weights. Besides you're wasting your hour window after you lift.
cardio = seperate day

cardio = seperate dayI agree, mostly.
After I workout, the only thing i want to do is go sit down and rest for a couple hours!
If i cant split up my cardio and liftinmg times, I do it before as a "warm up" and then take a 5 minute break, then hit the weights hardcore.
