Whenever I'm on the butt-blaster (the machine you get on all fours and push up a panel back and up) my lower back starts hurting. Is there anything I can do to prevent or correct this?

Be VERY careful for one. If you're getting constant pain from this machine, STOP USING IT. Trust me on this, i haven't been able to walk right, OR workout for over a week now. All because i ignored pain.

That said, if your form is correct (not too many ways to do it on a machine), then you shouldn't have pain. Make sure it's adjusted to fit you, and if the pain proceeds, just stop doing it.

also manke sure youre not trying to do too much weight. Start off with really light weight first to get the form right.

I can't believe more guys haven't replied, given that a girl is posting here and discussing the "butt blaster" and being "on all fours". If this were in FFA, we'd be on page 18 by now and the leghump to useful post ratio would be well over 1,000:1. Somehow I'm disappointed.

If this post is legit, chances are you are overextending and bringing pressure on your lowerback. Focus on your glutes and try not to overextend the movement.

Man, the innuendo possibilities are so vast with a post like this one...but as always, I'll take the high road. :)

Yea. Shit like that doesn't fly in this forum AT ALL. We joke around here and there, but it's treated more like the tech forums on TR.

+1 on everything else that was said already.

Also, CHECK YOUR FORM!! The easiest way to hurt yourself is to do the exercise incorrectly. Machines are great, but if you dont adjust them the right way, you 1) just waste time because dont work the right muscle; and 2) put yourself at risk for injury.

 Yeah, yeah, I know. You know I usually play by the rules, but with that lead in, I wouldn't be able to look myself in the mirror and call myself a man if I didn't at least HINT at the possibilities, especially after checking her profile. Men are pigs, this is a universal truth and something that even the most intellectualized amongst us have to face, but sometimes we can be helpful or useful pigs, which is why women tolerate us. Let us not forget that, even here in the asexual, harmonious, informative bliss that is the Health and Fitness forum. ;)

glad to see you found your way in here! ;)
the pain youre felling is probably your body telling you something isnt right. like already mentioned, check your form and make sure you're not doing too much as well. maybe have a trainer at the gym check to make sure you're doing it correctly. sometimes the pictures on the equiptment showing you how to use it are confusing. i had to show this girl at the gym how to use something bc she was doing it totally wrong and i was afraid she was going to get hurt. so don't be afraid to ask, sometimes its hard to tell if you're doing something right bc you cant really see yourself doing it even if there's mirrors everywhere.

If your lower back is strained DO NOT CONTINUE@!!! Take some Tazinadine (sp) 1 hr before you go to bed do this for about 2-3 weeks your back will be in good shape ..But if you keeppulling the muscles that are already tightend from before you will be hurt really bad.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll make sure to check my form next time, and I'll probably drop down the weight a little bit.

April, give me a call sometime. We should hang out this weekend.
