and not meaning what im shooting in, how its processed on the camera.

for example, this weekend at the nostalgia race. it was completely sunny the entire time, shooting in program mode, custom white balance with my bracketing set about 1/3 stop under exposed, polarizer, various lens'

some shots would come out perfect, some dark, some light, i dont get it, it wasnt even cloudy. any ideas other then shooting in RAW and adjusting afterwards?

from what i can see, the color of the car made no difference

if you want to see them all, just go to www.floridaracing.org

What f stop were the shots at?

If you had it on Program mode chances are you either picking up light from the track on the auto focus side that will bump the f to go higher (say f18+ vs f5-8 range) and cause your shot to be underexposed. Your CP can also play tricks on things because it drops your lighting down at least a full stop.

You might be better off if the lighting stays pretty much the same to get the right exposure and just keep that setting in Manual Mode.

Nice shot (first one) btw.

the back shots are using the stock kit lens and the front zoomed shots are on the 75-300mm EF IS USM

my 28-135 EF USM IS should be here wed, i cant wait.

yea i think im going to start using my gray card if its going to be a not cloudy day.

my personal fav shot from the event
