Actually I did that with three of my four long term relationships. Each lasted longer than six months. Fuck, if being friends with someone then screwing the first time there's an actual DATE counts, that's what happened with my husband.

Out here it's common as all hell. Most of my friends have met a dude/chick at a bar, fucked 'em that night and then gone on to have a committed monogamous relationship with 'em for months if not years.
