View Full Version : Stevia - safe or not?

I've tried. And I just can't drink a gallon of water in a day. Towards the end, I get queasy at the thought of drinking more water.
But I can drink a gallon of tea without thinking twice about it. And from what I've read, 8 ounces of tea is equivalent of 4 ounces of water (after compensating for caffine and it's diuretic effect). This I can handle. A gallon of tea and half gallon of water I can do with ease.
The issue comes from the calories associated with sweetening the tea. Is Stevia a safe way to do this? For around $20 I'd get "the equivalent of 50 pounds of sugar" in 8oz by volume powder. Don't really know how I'd measure it out, but it seems like a much better alternative to sugar, and cheaper alternative to Splenda.

Any thoughts on this? I never heard anything about it until reading about it in a post in here.

I think I drink 2-3 gallons of water a day. I drink a gallon in the gym alone.

Same here. Just man up and drink the water jesus christ. Youve got to get used to it. Ive heard people saying they dont like the taste of water  . If you can taste water, its probably not sanitary. Just guzzle it if you have too.

Drinking sweet tea negates the effect of drinking water. Sugar = shit for yoru physique.

Awesome. Someone can lock this. I'm looking for something to a) count as more water, and b) replace drinking soda. Tea is my best option..
I don't give a damn about drinking water. I don't wish to drink gallons of water.
I want to know about this sweetener.

Sorry to jump in again, artificial sweetners are fine. Just stay away from refined sugars and such.

^^ Perfect.
That's what I'm trying to do - is cut down on sugar, both from cola and lightly sweetening my tea.

People want things without willing make sacrifices. It's a common trend on this board. Water prevents my mouth from being dry, therefore, I drink it. It's pretty simple when you think of it that way.

^^ And staying on topic is pretty simple when I think about it, yet here we are...
I'm not trying to make sacrifices. I won't. I'm not trying to attain body building status. I'm trying to figure out a way to do my normal eating and drinking habits a bit healthier, and cut out soda (without the cancer and brain-holes associated with Nutrisweet and Sweet 'n Low). But apparently I can't just get information from this forum.

Its really unnecessary to say anything like that when recieving constructive criticism. Hes trying to point you out in the right direction, and I believe Mitch 100%. Liquids are liquids, water just happens to be cheaper, healthier etc.

Do as you choose, its your body. Dont expect great results however.
