Does it make a huge difference?? I just wanted to make the first thread BTW....I shall forever go down in TF history....
it depends. There are a lot of systems out there now that are solar powered for heating and I believe for pumping as well that are very affordable. I've never owned a pool though.

We have a pool with an eletrical pump. It ryns 4 hours a day 7 days a week. During summer months the pump should run 6-8 hours a day if you use your pool. Electric wise I would say it consumes about 25-30 bucks a month. That of course is not the only expenses. Chemicals depending on the type of filter set up you have. Mine takes 2.5 gallons of chlorine a week plus a tablet or two and alge stuff. That runs about 7 bucks a week. Also since there hasn't been any rain you have to keep the water level high cause the skimmer will suck air. I wish we didn't have a pool but my 7 year old loves it.

i've been wondering the same, i'm having a pool/spa put in, the permit was just pulled, will be mid July, it's going to have a salt generator system and Propane heating on the pool and spa. i've been trying to figure my monthly cost.

Having a pool doesn't increase your bills too much. My electric bill last month was $120.00. That's with three people living here not including Trey and I have a pool. If you keep up with the pool it is not as expensive as say letting it turn to shit. That would cost you more in the long run. Just my opinion.

If you heat your pool with either propane or electric heat and keep it on most of the month, its going to cost you 150.00 or more higher then a normal bill. My brother has a hot tub and pool and heats it quite often and his electric bills are 340-375.00 for 2400 sq ft 1 story house.
