I found this site when trying to figure out the diameter of pipes I wanted to use to give the flow and pressure requirements. It was written by a landscaping engineer and there is a TON of information in this site.

sticky maybe?

Good stuff, I just installed a sprinkler system at my house. One tip: rent a trench digger or have some friends help dig the trenches.

I'll probably be doing this in a few months if my lawn takes hold...

seriously, everytime I visit it I find something new or learn something new. If you can't design and implement an irrigation system using this site you have no reason to be near the shovel used to dig the ditch for the pipe.

Do it now while it's still dirt!

The plumbers tore my lawn up, and I am having troubles patching that dirt up. I'm waiting till the rainy season starts up and I'm going to reseed.

I would, but I have a few problems - there are NO outside electrical outlets or power feeds on my house, and the hook-up to the city water is probably going to require the services of a plumber.

Opt for a system that does not use electric selenoids to open valves. Design your system to use a standard ball valve. Only problem is you can't put it on a timer, you'd have to home to turn it on/off.
