Specifically Wall colors....

I can't pick a color to save my life.

I have a few girls from work that are volunteering to come over and give me some input as I was impressed with what they did at their places, but how did you all decide on colors? Something you saw somewhere else? Pics online?

Any good resources?

Let them do it. I gave Kelli free reign on color choices, she went to the store and bought all of the paint for the house. She picked a few shades of green/tanish colors that are very bungalow style friendly. Similar colors would probably look great in your house. Stick with matte colors for the walls, bright white semi-gloss for the trim.

I painted my living room about 10 months ago. I wanted the luxurious/cozy feeling, no more freaking white walls. I have wood floors and a wood ceiling. I decided to do the walls in a brown color with white trim. I got the color idea from looking at thopse home magazines in winn-dixie, etc. specifically the ones with the high dollar homes in them.

We picked colors based on our furniture. If you can't decide, go to Home Depot and look at their "oops" paint. If you see a color you like, buy it and try it. If you need more, they can mix it for you, but that first gallon is only $5. We were lucky enough to get both colors as oops paints plus they matched the furniture.

90% of the furniture I have will be disposed of and replaced very soon, so maybe I should wait....

I highly reccommend the Behr premium paints. I have been able to cover walls with a single coat whereas other paints would have required much more work. The stuff is just top notch.

I used the American Tradition Signature Series from Lowes. Prett ygood stuff but not one coat good. I would recommend getting paint that is on the expensive end of the scale as they tend to be better paints and last longer. When I paint my walls I don't want to have to do it again in two years. Also to help save $ on paint, when you buy your primer get it tented the color you want. Put two coats of primer on then two coats of the "good stuff" and call it good. I think its only like $5 to get a gallon of primer tinted.

If you go neutral in your house, it will normally match most and any furniture. Or you can paint, then it will help you decide what furniture you want and what looks good. In my new house, all the walls are being painted Khaki, which is a neutral beige type color, it was in the model home and looked like it matched pretty much most furniture. I didnt want white and I wanted all the rooms the same.

^^^ for my 18th birthday my mom allowed me to interior-design my bedroom anyway i wanted. so i chose that wall paint color, some golish curtains and purple accents and turned my room into an egyptian abode. i loved it.

she loved it too, so much infact that she decided she wanted our house to be designed by 2 interior designer women.

they chose the exact same color as the pictures above. sooooo maybe that says sumfin :) our house has beige tiles and lots of crown molding and sculptures within the molding. our fireplace is stone. we have large windows with green plants pouring in the view. so the green works perfectly.

Go online and check out colors on HGTV and the TLC site might have stuff (from trading spaces, etc.) or you could go to Borders and check out the design books to see colors that compliment one another

Hmmm, good ideas, I did look up a few things on their site. I definately want to try and stick with "classic" colors. As rich said - bungalow friendly. I want to choose colors that reflect the style and period of the house. That being said I dont' want any 40's aqua blues or bright yellows, lol....
