So I've always wanted to put a waterfall/pond in my backyard...even before I've owned my own house.

Anyone have any experience building their own? I've seen the shows and read all the how to's online and figure with enough beer, I could get a couple of friends over for the weekend and get most of the grunt work out of the way. Not to mention one of the friends owns his own excavation company so I've got access to some equipment :-)

Also, anyone ever put down a patio with pavers? I'm thinking of doing something about 10'x25-30' but need to figure out how much it'll cost me in supplies...ugh

Don't you want to be just a tad past level so the water can drain away from the house?

I work for a brick paving company, and my patio is going to be paved within the next two weeks! Pavers make a house look 10 times more gorgeous.

I found this online tonight and would love something like this....maybe with a slightly smaller pond but same size waterfall.

Hillary, how much would you say a a 10'x25' paver patio would run installed? I know it's tough to say depending on the paver you choose but any rough idea....or even just materials?

BTW, you and Kirk have done some nice stuff already to the house!

i've heard it's around $6-7/ sqft for installation, 10-11 if they have to bust concrete. that's what i was told.

i'm currently having a pool built the deck will be pavers, layed in "new england" pattern. i will post pics when it gets to that stage.

Sorry didn't mean perfectly level. I was meaning level ground for each paver. I hate seeing uneven pavers. Yes you do want a level grade for water run off

There are tons of awesome books on water falls. I have a few of them myself.

ill take pics and upload them tonight of my waterfall/fish pond next to my back patio. It is not 100% complete yet but you will get the jist of it to be able to make it your own. Ill actually make a thread this evening on my how-to with some photos and some of the problems I ran into while constructing it.

Well, the company I work for charges around 5.15 to 5.45 per square foot. And to bust up concrete would be extra, but we don't make any money off of excavation, we charge what the company who does it for us charges.

And thank you so much! :)

We are getting it done next week, either Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.
I'll show you pics when it's done!

Sounds good!

Here's something I did in photoshop real quick as to what I'm thinking of doing. There's a concrete slab on the right that is for my AC that will be staying...obviously.
