So far the only major projects I've managed to complete are laying travertine tile in the foyer (got in over my head with the design I choose) and I'm almost finished with a pond in the backyard. Only thing left on the pond is some foam for the rocks around the waterfall, the pump/filter setup, and the lighting.

Shitty lighting in this last one but the color actually looks like the first two.

And here are some shots of project "back-breaker / heat stroke" aka pond:

Notice the nice sprinkler head right in my way...ugh. At least it was a quick move/fix.

I didn't care for the waterfall design I had going nor did I care for the filter setup...both got changed as you will see.

The liner is down and the rocks are starting to go around. Gotta love the token tiki torch.

Sorry for the ass shot...the wifey took that one.

My lab, Hailey really wants to get in but she needs to stay the f' out...don't need any more vet bills for a twisted angle.

I'll take some more shots once I finish up my ghetto filter/waterfall design (going to paint it black and hopefully that grass will grow tall enough to cover it) is done.
Next on the list is a fence and then pavers to complete my backyard.

the tile looks awsome and the time it took to layout the design in the floor was definately worth it in the end IMO. The pond looks great. I have one question though. Did you test your waterfall design there with a water hose or whatever. Water loves to find a way to escape its path to the pond and make its way into the yard ultimately leaving a dry pond. LOL. Looks really good though and I like the plants as well.

Yeah, I tested the waterfall but I need the expanding foam for around some of the rocks. You could see where the water was making it's way around some of the rocks there but all of the water made it into the pond.
The tile sucked major ass. It's big and heavy but in the end it came out pretty good for my first tile job. Some tile isn't perfectly level but you can't notice it unless your barefoot...doesn't hurt or anything, just barely noticeable.
Thanks for the compliments.

+1 on the travertine, where did you buy the materials for that? you used a good penitrating sealer on it right ;)

Yeah I've put one coat of sealer on it and will probably do another here shortly so it won't stain. Home Depot had a nice sale going on last year on the tile and a contractor friend of ours picked up about 40 cases for next to nothing so we just bought 30 off of him for our foyer and kitchen/dinning room. All the other stuff I got from home depot as well (motar for marble/travertine, sanded grout for the medallian and non sanded for everything else, plus floats, etc). Had a bunch of gift cards so I figured might as well get it there. The mediallian and the squares I picked up at Tile Outlet of America on Hillsborough.

Nice work on the pond, looks nice. I have one question though, why did you make the pond so shallow? Not planning on putting any fish in it?

the center is right at 2'. In the one picture, I'm standing on the first ledge with the water line only half way up it so it looks smaller than it is. If I do put any fish in it, it'll just be one or two, nothing more.

Sweet! Ponds that aren't plastic tubs rock!
That tile looks AWESOME! Must have been a PITA but well worth it.

I love that tile!! I have always loved designs when you walk into the house like that. And the pond is great, too. It's going to look amazing once you get a fence and some pavers put in! Great job! :)
