With the help of some good friends and a long weekend, I have new siding on about 70% of my place. The install wasn't exact straight forward, as 3/4 of the house had to be furred out with lumber to make the house closer to square, and going over some existing asbestos shingle was a chore. All of the window frames had to be built out and are not yet finished, they will be built out a bit more and painted white. There were a couple nice finishing touches on the front of the place. The more I type this the more I realize how much work there is left. Here are a few pics to sum it all up.

Looks great man, really nice job. Maybe throw some latice on that lower portion, really cap off the lower section and siding where the block shows.

I'm probably going to end up painting it. If I was really motivated, I would lay cultured brick tile on it, but we'll see about that.

Thanks for the compliments, hopefully get it done this weekend. There is a lot of trim, facia and other BS to deal with as well to make it look up to date. A new metal roof wouldn't hurt either.

Thanks man. I think when its all said and done it'll probably be about $2200. If I hadn't had to fur out the building so much it would have been a lot cheaper. Pressure treated lumber is $$$ these days. Once the windows are trimmed out and all of the soffit and facia are complete it'll bring it a bit closer to the 21st century.

Yeah I hear ya. It depends on where you go. If you go into older areas where the times didn't call for block & stucco, they all have siding. Some wood, some vinyl, some redone with cement board (hardi-plank). You won't see much cedar shingle or anything here because of the termites. Take a stroll down some areas in South Tampa and its hard to find a stucco home unless it is a real flattop roof spanish style house.

Hardi siding fucking sucks!

It's madd heavy. :squint:

But i'm not gonna lie, it's worth it.

Lookin' good though, Rich!
