View Full Version : Cabinet w/ Tin roof to hide electrical stuff.
I am onto about the last 10% of the siding job, and I had to do something about the mess of electrical conduit, fuse box and electric meter. The hardest part about the job which I didn't take any pictures of was getting the box to fit square to the wall. There is a lot of custom cutting on both sides, and the use of a plumb bob and level. Then the box was built on a bench with support braces along the front. I originally was going to hinge the door, but for the amount of times that its going to be taken off, I notched my trim pieces and made it slide in from the left.

Now I have to replace the cheapo light next to the door, make some placques for the conduit running left and up the side of the door and finish the siding!

pretty sweet dude, lets see how much of a fit your meter man gives you now that he has to slide that board open. You should put random pop out things inside like near halloween so it jumps out at him when he opens it. HAHA

Yeah, I was thinking about just cutting a hole in it where the meter reads and putting a rounded cut piece of trim over it to keep the water out. I need to see if they even read them @ the house or if they do it with RF or something. I have no idea.

plexiglass window for the meter? Either way it looks really nice and def serves its purpose of hiding the electrical components.

That looks great! I hate the mess the meters leave out. Such an eyesore.

Most meters are or soon will be the kind where the guy doesn nto even have to get out of the car. Most of them are all radio waves now so there is no more "meter maid"
When we get the new house rich you will be coming over, having a cigar and scotch and tell me what I need to do that same exact set up.
