Blah, blah, blah. No chance, pal. If anyone's going to win the World Series, it's going to be the White Sox, again. Eff the Tigers. I think they'll slide in the second half of the season. I think the White Sox are still the best team in baseball.

lol, Boston sucks. It's nice to pretend that it's gonna happen though.
Just think of this; the Yankees are 3 games back with Sheffield, Matsui, Cano all out. Posada, Damon(who is now out of the lineup) and Jeter(almost 100%) are all playing hurt. Boston just lost 3 of 4 to the Devil rays. Wake up, you guys suck. I'm not saying the Yankees are going to win the world series this season, but it's more likely than the Red Sux(because eventually we'll get healthy). I still wouldn't underestimate the central division, they're pretty damn good.

Are you serious?! Did you not see Boston last Mon-Thur? They lost 3 out of 4 to the Devil Rays (who just so happen to be 38-49).. or better yet, did you happen to see when Carl Crawford stole home base?!?! If you're World Series material.. you don't let shit like that happen.. and certainly not from a team that just so happens to be nearly last place in the league.. If they plan on even making it to the World Series let alone winning it.. they really need to step it up.. big time.. And I don't foresee that happening.. at least not this year.. Boston winning the World Series is something that happens once in a lifetime..

Wow, so Boston loses 3 out of 4 at a stadium where they notoriously play poorly and all of a sudden they're not World Series material. They have sucked indoors this year. But hey, nevermind the fact that they swept the Mets, and are on the verge of sweeping the White Sox. Or the fact that they took 2 out of 3 from the Tigers. The Sox have risen to the occasion when playing the top teams this year. If you think there's no chance of them making the World Series, than you know nothing about baseball.

i like how the yankee's fan claim they're not in first because of who's on their DL.... 2 of our main pitchers are on the DL and Wakefield will be missing his next start because of his back. Also Willy Mo's on the DL... We have just as many good players on the DL as the Yankee's. Most of the baseball analysts say that the Sox will take the east, the wild card will come out of the central (A-Rod even said this), and the west was still up in the air.

I'm a sox fan but don't think they'll take it all.. Hell i'm shocked at how good their doing becuause of the amount of rookies they have playing for them to be honest. I'm just amused by the typical Yankee fan excuse. "Ohh well we're playing without our main players"... Guess what, so are we... "Well we have hurt players"... Guess what, so are we... And we're doing better then you with rookies. :P
It's just like when the Yankee's win it's because they're the best team ever and when ever they loose it's only because the other team got lucky because the Yankee's never have off days.

Wells, Clement, now Wake will be missing time, Foulke has been hurt, when Riske was with us he missed a month, Crisp was out for about 2 months and Wily Mo went on the DL right after Crisp got back. Luckliy Lester, Delcarmen, Lopez, and Hansen have all been good since coming up, and Papelbon has been great all year at closer.
We've been missing guys from the pitching staff, they've been missing guys from their lineup. And they're missing guys just happen to be higher profile guys who put up big numbers offensively. But it's not like they don't still have Damon, Jeter, A Rod, Giambi, Cano, and Posada still in the lineup. Most teams would kill to say they have key players on the DL and still have that lineup. The Yankees just make it another excuse. Their problem is not their offense. It's their pitching. Aside from Mussina, none of their starters are consistently good, not even Randy Johnson, though he is becoming a little more consistent as we get farther into the summer.

Where have you been? Damon has been on and off in the lineup from a few games before the allstar break and he's been playing with a fractured toe for over a month. Jeter is about 100% but he's been playing hurt after taking a pitch to the wrist. Cano hasn't played in weeks. And Posada has something wrong with his knee. And actually as of late our pitching has done pretty well.

And Manny's been playing with knee problems, and Wakefields been playing with a stress fracture in his ribs for a month... Willy Mo was playing the first part of the season needing surgery on his wrist but waited till Coco was back before taking time off...
Fractured toes are nothing in all honesty. I played 15 games of soccer with a severly broken (not fractured) toe in high school. Usually at the half back position. Between that and practice I have a feeling I put more damage on my toe then Damon does standing in the outfield waiting for something to come to him.

I like the Mets in the NL, too. I picked them to represent the NL in the World Series. The Mets' bullpen is pretty solid (Wagner, Feliciano, Sanchez, Heilman). I still feel as though Heilman should be a starter, not a reliever. I think he pitches better as a starter. Mike Pelfry is a stud. The Mets are interested in Lugo. If the Mets want Lugo, I hope the Rays ask for Pelfry or Heilman in return. Omar Minaya probably won't trade either of them. He keeps on saying that he's not trading Heilman. I seriously doubt that Pelfry is going to be dealt. I'm sure he's untouchable.

The Yankees will only win it if ARod steps up and starts playing better and our pitching staff continues playing strong. Boston won't win it period. Chances are that the wild card will come from the central, unless the white sox continue to play like they did against the yankees.
Red Sox will end the regular season in 2nd place in the east as always, whether they make the playoffs will be up to the white sox.

I realize what's been happening with the Yankees lineup. But Posada hasn't missed all that much action. Yes Damon's been hurt, but not enough to keep him out of action significantly and he's still producing. And Cano didn't get hurt till mid June and is already back. So for the majority of the season, they've still had Jeter, Damon, A Rod, Giambi, Posada, and Cano in the heart of the lineup. Yet all most Yankee fans can talk about is how they're missing Matsui and Sheffield so much. And everybody acts like the Red Sox have been completely healthy the way they talk about "Oh, the only reason the Yanks aren't in first right now is because of all the injuries. The Sox should be a lot farther ahead." The fact is, the Sox probably would be farther ahead if they weren't dealing with injuries themselves. Especially when you consider a big reason for the few struggles that we've had is due to Wells being out and there being no consistent 5th starter to replace him. If Wells was back and healthy, the starting staff would be one of the top 3 or 4 in the league.
BoSox84

Also, if any of you think that anybody in the National League is going to take the World Series this year, you're sadly mistaken. The American League is just too strong this year. The weakest team from the AL playoffs could beat the strongest from the NL playoffs this year

I really don't think that a healthy wells is on par with a healthy sheffield, in terms of what they can do for their team. Wells just doesn't have it anymore(from what I've seen). Although I do agree with you about the red sox injuries, i still believe that the yankees are hurting more... but that's mainly because ARod is having some issues right now and we could really use a power guy like Sheff or a hit machine like Matsui. Bottomline, when both teams get healthy it's going to be a race... and the yankees will win it.

Yeah, I mean, I'm not saying the Yanks aren't hurting. It just gets tiring hearing analyst after analyst after analyst say that the Red Sox should be miles ahead of them like the Red Sox are healthy, or the Yankees aren't 17 games over .500 despite the injuries. But yeah, it'll be a tight race to the very end. I just hope the Sox don't trade Lowell like they're discussing with the Padres right now, that would just be dumb.

Rumor has it A-Rod's getting traded to the Phillies for Abreu and a pitcher.
Actually the rumor I read was A Rod and Cabrera for Abrea, Burrell, David Bell, and Tom Gordon. But both side laughed at the rumor when they were asked about it
Alex Rodriguez laughed when a trade rumor that circulated through Wall Street yesterday was relayed to him. "It doesn't make any difference," Rodriguez said of the rumor that had the Yankees third baseman going to the Phillies as part of a blockbuster trade for Bobby Abreu, Pat Burrell, Tom Gordon and David Bell, with the Yankees supposedly also sending Melky Cabrera and a player to be named. "I would veto it." Though Rodriguez has become the Yankee Stadium boo birds' No. 1 target, the abuse hasn't come close to having him waive the blanket no-trade clause in his contract. A Phillies official laughed at the rumor.

A-Rod can veto the deal. There's no way the Yankees are going to buy out A-Rod's contract and have him become a Free Agent. No effin' way, bro. If the Yankees DFA A-Rod, he's still going to get paid. He's probably enough through his contract that some team would claim him off of waivers. That's the only way A-Rod leaves the Yankees, in my opinion.
Drew

You do know what DFA'd (Designated for Assignment) means, right? If not, it means that the Yankees would have 10 days to release (he wouldn't accept being outrighted to the minors), trade, or pass him through waivers. He'd be removed from the 40-man roster. Yes, A-Rod could be placed on the trading block, but there's no way in Hell he gets DFA'd.

Yes I am a Sox fan. I grew up in MA.. Lived in western Ma for 22 years and the Boston area for 6. During the summers I would live in Brooklyn (summer of 93,94,95) and the NY fans we're overly obnoxious back then in NYC. Also when I lived up there I DJed alot in NYC (2000-2005) and once again, the NYC fans, or at least people wearing NYC clothing, we're obnoxious and rude. Maybe thats just a NYC thing though. I have a couple of friends that are NYY Fans and we fuck around with each other. But they don't have the Holier Than Thou attitude that alot of them have. In all honesty, I think the NYY would like 1/3 of their "fans" if the hip hop and rap culture didn't constantly sport their gear. That would get rid of alot of the moron's that claim to be Yankees fan.
Overall though, I'm just a fan of the sport and enjoy watching a good game. I'd generally rather a once point difference then a blow out and see good fielding and pitching.

Alex Gonzalez was placed on the 15-day DL earlier today, but there's good news for Red Sox fans. Dustin Pedroia, Boston's shortstop of the future, has been re-called from AAA Pawtucket. I've been following Pedroia for a while. When Hanley Ramirez was in Boston's system, I still thought that Pedroia was the better of the two players. I would have liked to have seen Pedroia hit for more power (5 homeruns in 423 at-bats) down in AAA, but he does hit for a solid average (.305). Pedroia posted an .810 OPS down in Pawtucket. That's pretty good for a guy that doesn't hit for a lot of power. This is Pedroia's first season at shortstop. Up until this season, Pedroia held it down at 2nd base. He obviously isn't a better defender than Gonzalez, but he's still pretty decent. He should be a fun kid to watch.
