Does anyone have a ballpark dollar per sq ft estimate for adding a room. I am looking to add a 12 x 15 block room to my house.
thanks

are you thinking of adding sqft to your house or just adding walls to make another room?

if you know someone who does the labor for free or cheap it varies....my dad lays block in Pennsylvania it will be above and beyond like 6-7,000 dollars...not cheap i wanted a pool table room and he said it had to be at least 16x16 for comfortable pooling...he is a pool gu-ru also....and it was like 4000 in block alone..then you have the cement the floor, the sand,... are you gonna fill the cells up to make a sound proof weather proof hurricane proof walls??? will there be plumbing in this room does it need air ducts ran, then you have the cost to finish the inside of it and the outside to match your house...it gets real pricey man......

I have just finished converting my aluminum FL room to all block room. It was expensive materials ran about 6,000 and my family chipped in on the work. We had to get blue prints drawn up by an architect and get permits becuase the dick head next door ratted me out to the city about the construction. So I had to tear down what I had up. But it wasn't much done so I lost a lil money. Neighbors can be dicks, mine sure is. Good luck I will update with pics of my "mini Winghouse/den" this weekend

I got busted for working without a permit when I built my garage. No neighbor, code enforcement was on the next street over looking at a home under construction and found it. Cost me close to $3k extra to get it permitted and it wasn't even technically a garage, it was a "storage shed" without power.

Oh, to provide some input, We had a house built in 2002 and it was about $43/sq ft (counting total house size, not living space). Materials have gone up quite a bit since then, plus I'd think the price/ft for adding a room would be higher since its lower volume of work. I'm guessing between $75-$100 sq/ft.
In insurance over here in Orlando they are suggesting $110/sqft for "rebuild" estimates.

That may be a bit high because it probably involves some demolition and site clean-up. But it's in the ballpark. Only real way is to get a quote.
