the idea i was trying to get across is that body armor is far beyond the point of what a regular citizen needs to consider themself protected. yes guns get in the hands of people that will use them to commit crime and body armor is just another thing that will add to that. I just didnt see the point in what a citizen would need it for. are you going to walk around grocery shopping wearing kevlar?

and second of all if you have a problem with my posts and want to call them stupid, or me stupid then how about you PM me and take it up personally, cause obviously i dont like my opinion being called stupid.

For a citizen , body armor would be useful when situations like katrina happen. Not im not hopping on the hurricane bandwagon. But i doubt a citizen would walk around with a heavy vests on under their clothing.

Body armor is to counteract criminals trying to use guns on you. Kinda like the saying "if you make owning guns a crime, then only criminals will own guns". Has nothing to do with first person shooting games or even better, RAP music.

Just like i dont NEED an AK 47 in my safe, others dont NEED kevlar. Simply preference of what you want, and maybe preparedness if any kind of shit DOES hit the fan

Not exactly that its any business of yours, but I will take the time to explain. I was a manager at the resturaunt I work for and taking home deposits every night was part of my job duties. Another manager at a location a few miles from mine was robbed at gunpoint while he was taking the deposit from his store home. I purchased it for when I was moving deposits. We now have safes and a pick up service, so I dont have to take the deposits anywhere. Sorry, but not all of us have the same faith as you the law enforcement will always be availbe to protect us when we need it.

Bottom line, body armor is a defensive item not an offensive item, it shouldnt be considered a threat to any LEO. They wear them for the same reason we wear them, that is WE DONT WANT TO GET KILLED. Statistically, civilians are probly twice as likely to get shot then law enforcement officers.

I cant help but quote on this...Also a free bump for you.

You have got to be fucking kidding me. I used to also work at a restaurant where I would take cash deposits (in excess of over 5k in cash sometimes) and drive to a certain bank and deposit this, Most of the times when it was dark out due to us having to hit a certain amt before we take it to the bank. Theives caught on and started mapping us out, and one of my other managers got robbed and shot. Now this was back when I was 18, if i did that same job, I would probly invest in a bullet proof vest and a carry on peice, people will kill you for 20 dollars, imagine what they will do for a bag full of 100's.

Also if I worked in the ghetto..I would buy one. Im not trying to lose my life cause some bitch wants to rob me and I didnt wear a vest and I knew i was in a shitty part of town.

You're nothing special. You're not military, you're not CIA, you're a COP - that means absolutely nothing except you get to carry a belt with cuffs and a gun on it a few hours a day.

I watch cops to see the episodes where some hot-headed cop gets messed up when the 'shit hits the fan everyday'. I state again, you're not military, you're not special forces, you're not a combat trained killer, you're just a guy with a badge and a couple of weapons. In addition, I don't have much faith in the shooting skills of an average cop...so I'd think with a 12 gauge, a rifle, and a handgun chambered in your caliber however utilizing deadlier ammo I'm about as well equipped to deal with a situation as you.

Jay, I have a bullet proof vest and quite a collection of guns. Does that bother you?

If bullet proof vests were ONLY sold to LEOs, security, etc... then you would only be taking the protection from LAW ABIDING CITIZENS. Criminals have access to ALL THINGS ILLEGAL. As a LEO, you know that. So STFU. It's opinions like this that LEOs get when they think EVERY CITIZEN is a subject. It'll wear off after you get some years on the force.

Other then that, buy one of this guy's guns for messing up his thread.

Typical police response. Police Academy is a joke. I've seen such dumb, most physically and mentally unfit sons of bitches pass it makes me sick. You'd of make more of an impact if you would say...oh...gotten a degree or if you wanted to brag about learning things and passing exams....or...oh...joined the military if you want to be tough.

Face it, you're pretty much a government licensed security guard. Every person is out on the street dealing with the public on a daily basis, its called LIFE. I've said worse than that to cops before also, and they took it. What, were they going to arrest me for making that comment? Lets talk about putting your ass on the line, by the way...I had to pull a gun on 3 ghetto-bangers to keep them from killing my dad about a year ago. No cops to be found. Ever go one-on-3 with just your sidearm? OH SHIT! A 'regular citizen' in a potental gunfight...whoda thunk?

Get. Over. Youself. Plenty of people go through what you go through and have been through worse. You have to get it through your head that you bleed red like the rest of us, you need to breathe air like the rest of us, and you are no better than anyone else just because you're a cop.

Edit: I see your point now! If those 3 guys would've had body armor, then they might've not backed down when confronted with the pistol! CITIZENS SHOULDN'T OWN BODY ARMOR AFTERALL!

can you please explain to me why a normal citizen would need to possess body armor (bullet proof vest)? i wish it was only available to Law Enforcement and Military.

I bet that Air Force enlist that was shot 3 times in the back by a cop while unarmed and obeying his orders wishes he was wearing that bullet proof vest.

Wow, while the guy was pretty dumb for doing what he did....the cop shot him in the back 3 times?! That makes me really angry, as I have nothing but respect for all of our servicemen/women serving right now and almost nothing but contempt for cops that act like that.

In other news, how do you survive 3 point blank rounds to the back? Maybe the po po needs to look into some better ammo.

Too bad he didn't have armor and a sidearm. I'd of loved to see the cop bleed for what he did.

Edit: Thats in no way cop bashing, btw. I'd feel the same way about anyone who did something that messed up, espically to a member of our armed forces.

Less broke lowballing mofos. By the way, there was a guy before you selling a vest, I don't even think he got 100 bucks for it, even thought its worth way more...

Yeah but then I gotta set up a sellers account, ship the gun ect. Id rather deal in state. Ive known of gunbroker for a long time, and frequently use them to price guns im not familiar with. Excellent site for reference if nothing else. If these dont sell by midweek I may have to bite the bullet and start a GB account.
