Red Dawn for me. We were discussing how easy it would be to rewrite the plot for modern times even better than the original.

I honestly hate remakes. Just leave them alone.
I've never seen a remake that didn't fuck it up.

have you even seen the original "gone in 60 seoconds"? the remake wasn't a classic but it made the original look like a psychotic episode without the interesting parts

Hellraiser.

Clive Barker just needs to get off his ass and direct another film in general.

I don't think i'd want that one remade. It's pretty solid even by todays standards.

House of Wax was extremely surprisingly decent for me. Hadn't caught the original.

Movies i'd like to be remade...

Saw(no seriously i think they could've done way better)
Silent Hill(If i had a time machine fixing that atrocity is top on my list)
Nothing(Awesome premise, lame duck exection half the time)

Hmm these are recent and more like i want do-overs. Maybe i can think of something older later on. Wicker Man was definatley in need of a remake, don't know how that turned out though.

I had never looked forward to a film as much as i had that. Oh man i was soooo disappointed. I guess it depends on how big of a fan you are of the series(i've played them all). I was expecting nothing short of transcendental. I mean i was expecting a serious revolution in horror films once it came out. You'd think with Christopher Gans and Roger Avery working on some quality source material you'd have a better chance than say Renny Harlin or Uwe Boll.

The first half of the film was meh to awesome. The second half nearly put me in tears. The dialogue and acting was servicable to atrocious(just like the games i guess). The backstory was delivered real corny like in that terrible montage. Though they nailed what i wanted to see for the most part with that scene that ended with "Burning Ring of Fire" playing.

The film was very unlike the games in a lot of ways. That whole gory end sequence was so bombastic it was disgusting. Also the fact that there were lots of people in the film was way off putting. The games always center around only a handful of people giving a lot of mystique and solitude that the film lacked. There should have been more(and far better) solitary creepy exploration scenes. Screw trying to explain what's going on for the most part, let it be one big freakout.

All in all it should have been an art horror film and it ended up a convoluted mess that was more about shock value(Pyramid Head ripping off someones skin? While certainly neat i found him a hell of a lot more disturbing when he wasn't trying to give crude money shots.). I just wish people would straight up translate source material as is and not toss in their own delusions of grandeur. So many good things get screwed up that way.

Whew...Yeah that's what i thought. Clearly for better or worse i could go on for days about the film. I guess i've got the fervor because i really love horror i just wish most of them would stop sucking.

I'm curious how Rob Zombie is going to do Halloween. Peronsally, that is my favorite scary movie ever and I have my reservations about anyone touching it.

DOOM..didn't see the movie, but could tell just from the previews that it was going to be gay...and as bad ass as those videogames were, they could have made one hell of a movie out of it.

Its an ok flick, but there was a first person shooter part that was pretty badass.

Personally I think he will do a good job.

this might sound silly but i have a roommate who never watches movies that were made in the last decade or two. i would love to see someone come along and make modern-day successes out of some of these long-forgotten classics.

also, a clockwork orange. though i guess that'd be disrespectful to stanley.

If they stuck with the BOOK this time it would be the greatest Sci-Fi/Military movie made since Aliens.

No way on A Clockwork Orange.
Malcolm McDowell is perfect as Alex DeLarge. Perfect.
I know the film is very old but I really think it holds up well.
I can't even picture someone else playing the role of Alex.

dude, you know the original was funded by 1 person? all the street scenes are in actual street traffic and most of the characters are really playing their roll in town(i.e. the cop was the actual town cop) thats probably why it was so wierd... great concept with no money

Godfather. this time cast Colin Ferrel.

I hate remakes. The only reason they make them is that most studios are out of ideas and god forbid that they dont release some more movies so they can pay some self rightous cunts 20-million a movie. There are only a few actors that are good enough to earn that kind of money. Tom Cruise is not one of them.
