Growing up I was fortunate to travel all over the world. Seeing all of the things I have, I am always intrigued to check out new places.
I've been debating taking a vacation overseas. I thought a lot about where i'd go, and had my mind set on the Netherlands. The more I thought about what I would experience, the less it made sense. Of course it would be an experience in it's own, but I thought my time could go towards something more fufilling.
Instead of taking my time to endulge in the Netherlands. I've decided my next trip will be to Ghana, Africa.
The project I am interested in doing, is visiting one of the most deprived countries in Africa and help introduce art and photography to them. There is the JAC (Junior Art Club) organization already setup there that accepts volunteers to come over and work with the children. I would take a month leave from work, a digital video camera, plenty of disposables for them, and let the children take all of the shots, only the beauty through their eyes.
I think by doing this I can capture so many emotions, all while documenting it on my video camera. By doing this, not only will it brighten so many children's lives to be a part of something, but also give other people a good idea that art can be beautiful in even the most unthought of places.
All of the photos the children take, i'd like to bring back over here and have developed and try to inspire someone to house an exhibit. In return to the children for their time and eyes, donate any money generated right to back them. In the whole cycle, everyone will gain a little something from all of this, or atleast that's my plan.
If you are interested in helping in any way at all, let me know. If not, that's perfectly okay too; it's not for everyone.
