Need memory card advice

I bought my mom a Nikon D80 for Christmas and I need to know what you guys would recommend for that camera in the memory department. I know that it takes sd cards, and that they make them up to maybe 4gb now. How many pictures can she take on a 1gb or a 2gb card, would she need more than one or a few. Any advice and where to pick them up for a decent price would be appreciated, thanks.

depends on the resolution she shoots in, but a 2 gig will be good for about 450-500 pictures at the max res.

I just went to Staples yesturday and they are having a sale on 2gb for $40 and 1gb for $20. Check it out !

I have 1GB for my Canon Powershot A540 and it takes 600 pics at max res...

my 1 gig on my D50 takes about 300

so a 2 gig on a D80 should take at least 500
