Anyone have experience anyway to make chilling on the deck anything but miserable? Screening it may be an option, but I like the idea of a firepit built in on the lower tear. The propane traps sound good in theory,,but i wouldnt invest the $$ untill i hear they clear the yard out.

there are several bug repellant machines on the market for a few hundred bucks. not sure how well they work. A bunch of Citronella tiki torches could give your backyard a nice atmosphere as well as keep the lil bastards away.

I use fans to keep them away. Works great if you don't mind the noise.
Those mosquito traps emit carbon dioxide, which will attrach them to it rather than you. How well they work I don't know, but they do have models -$300, as much as $1200. If you're going to build a pit it may be good investment. Get one that has a full return guarantee to try it.
