View Full Version : Pittsburg, the death of a sports town
Somebody please explain to me what's happening in Pittsburg that they can't keep any team but a football team?
The Pirates have been a dormant franchise since the early 90's since losing Barry Bonds. They struggle to 15k fans a game, and rightfully so with their streak of futility. Beautiful ballpark though, kind of a shame.
The Penguins are on the verge of leaving with a lack of support for a new venue.
This leaves the Steelers as the only solid draw in the town, albeit a great one at that.
So its Pitt just a football town or is this a trend?

It will be a shame if the Pens leave, Pittsburgh has great fans. There is a meeting being held tonight about the arena situation so I hope to hear tonight that it's a done deal and the Pens are not going anywhere. The Pens play NJ tonight in Pitt and there will be definitely some chants going on tonight. There will be alot of Pittsburghers pissed off if the Pens leave me being one of them.
The city will be dumb to get rid of the Pens. Pittsburgh is one of the NHL's strongest American markets. Sellouts are the norm at Mellon Arena, the league's oldest facility and local television ratings are among the highest of any American NHL market.
I just hope it gets worked out and it gets done.

Yeah they would be very dumb to get rid of them cause the Pirates suck and the Steelers probably going to suck. The Pens are winning and fun to watch more exciting then watching the Pirates or the Steelers. So to get rid of the Pens would be a big mistake. So heres hoping they keep the Cardiac Kids in Pittsburgh!
I think Cowher needed a break and take a few years off then come back to coach but probably won't be with the Steelers.

Only upset that the Devils are up 2-1 :( But I predict Jordan "The Gronk" Staal with the tying goal, then it goes to a shootout where Crosby wins it again.

The Steelers are the face of that city as far as all sports go.

Speaking of The Steelers, has anybody ever been to the bar O'Brians over off Fletcher and Dale Mabry near Barnes and Nobles... Steeler fans take over the inside of the place every game day leaving the pitiful Bucs fan to beat the heat outside on the tiny T.V.'s... I love it..
GO STEELRS!
