Latest Home Project

I've posted some of my other projects, and I thought I would post my latest. My house has very limited storage, and after adding shelving in the garage and all available places in the house, I started thinking about the space under the stairs. But then, why just put a door when I could make a hidden door that I've always wanted?

After choosing the location, I had to bust out the portion of the wall, install a new header, rewire all of the switches and outlets (as you can see in one picture the wires were all over the place), build up the floor to match the level of the existing hardwood, tiled the floor, put up drywall, added an overhead light, etc. I still need to add some caulking and touch up paint on the outside of the case. Then I can start the sanding, painting, and adding baseboards on the inside. Anyway, I just thought it was a fun project that I would share. Since no one knows where I live, my secret room is safe. :lol:

Finished Pictures. Ignore the blue masking tape on the left side of the trim, I was using it to hold the trim. Like I said, I still have some final caulking and trim painting to do, but it's basically done!

HAHA, ballin man! Now you just need a tunnel that goes to the neighbors! :lol: for real though, very cool. I would use it to stash all my firearms and shit someone would steal if they ever broke into my house. Or I would tie my g/f up in there and make a slot to stick food and water through. :lmao: Good job man!

I'm going to put my safe in there, along with some other personal items and then normal storage stuff. There are some pics of the inside that I forgot to post. One is another section that you can't tell is there from the first set of pictures.

Very kickass! I was going to say, if you ever planned on selling to possibly turn it into a powder room for added value, but upon closer inspection I see a family of midgets would have to be buying. :P Good thinking though, most people miss the potential of under the stairs space!

Thanks for the comments. I just finished up the baseboards and moldings last night. I hope to touch up paint this weekend and then I can start moving in some boxes.
