View Full Version : What happens if the stock of a company you own gets purchased.

So, I like investing in LED companies. I really think LED's are the future, so I dont do much chart analyzing.. CLRK was my biggest LED investment, and my biggest risk since the P/E was in the 130's. I averaged in about $18 a share. Phillops has offered to buy CLRK @ $34 a share. Almost doubled my money in less then 6 months on this stock.

Do I now get Phillops stock, or cash once the deal closes ?

i believe your stock certs are transferred over :dunno: Then again, I would think that by buying the company they would need to pay share holders off as well before aquisition. I have no idea :) In for the answer.

The offer will state if it's a cash or stock offer. They are always different.

Color Kinetics Announces Acquisition by Philips

Intelligent LED lighting pioneer joins global lighting leader


BOSTON, June 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Color Kinetics Incorporated (Nasdaq: CLRK - News), a leading innovator of LED lighting systems and technologies, today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI). Philips will pay $34 per share in cash for all shares and options, or a total consideration of approximately $791 million. The acquisition is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the third quarter of 2007.
