If you don't play games, your going to enjoy it.

Why are you making the switch?

I just want to try something new. So Ubuntu isn't compatible with any games?

Very few games will run on Ubuntu straight up.

You can use WINE if you'd like - and there are some games out there specifically made for Linux/Ubuntu, but so far as seeing new games being released with Linux files or installations available you would be disappointed.

I set my parents up on Ubuntu months ago, and they have a tenth of the issues that they had before the switch. The only thing they do is play online (flash/java/etc) games, and check their email or surf the Interwebz.

It's all in what you do, and what you want to do.

it is compatible with games, what hes saying is that alot of games are written for only windows. Linux will have its own games. Gaming held me back from linux for awhile because the games I played weren't compatible with linux and it was easier just to boot windows and play rather than try to get them to work in linux using either Wine or Cedega.

My favorite linux-friendly game to play is still return to castle wolfenstein: enemy territory

If someone can help me get set up with Starcraft on my ubuntu partition and somehow figure out a way to get rid of my random video garbling problem, I'd make the switch completely. Instead right now, i just go on when I feel like messing around.
