Well, my ideal candidate (Fred Thompson) dropped out of the race, which resulted in me having to re-research the current field of republican contenders.
Romney - Cant get behind him because of his record on the 2nd amendment (also, I suspect he is an escaped disney animatronic robot)
McCain - Amnesty = No vote for you. Campaign Finance Reform = No vote for you.
Ron Paul - HATE HATE HATE his foreign policy. I actually like some of his domestic ideas, but cant get around his stance on the middle east.
Giuliani - I'd like him as the secretary of homeland security or even the veep, but not as president. Hes a little to autocractic for me to trust.
Huckabee - Dude has a CCW which is a solid plus. His foerign policy stance is acceptable, and now that I've had a chance to read up on the fair tax, I really like his fiscal policy. I dont really care for his heavy religious overtones, but otherwise Im allright with him.
God damnit Fred! Why did you do this to me!?!?!?

You know the Irony of Thompson pulling out? He has more delegates then Rudy.
Romney is pretty much going to be our nomination, but I voted for him to make a point, I like his politics better then the other ones.

It just kills me that he dropped this early. Supposedly he was going to get all 49 of loisianas delegates.
Now we dont have an angry republican candidate! WTF?

It's all about timing.
Thompson was probably the most sensible one of the bunch. And that will be more evident when he retires from politics in a few years.

Too bad you cant elect a man against his will :)
Im reading up more on this Fair Tax concept and Im really digging it, it could be the catalyst for a real surge in the economy.

Do you have Neal Boortz's book? The FairTax Book
Borders has it for $2.99. It's a great read. At that price I was thinking of buying 100 of them and donating them to schools but I figured the teachers would throw them in the trash after I left.

It's a pipe dream... just like anything that has the word "fair" in it...
Now if you called it the "take from the rich and give to the poor tax" it'd be in place in no time...

compared to everyone elses stance on everything, he is the best chance. I too hated to see Thompson drop out, we were so aligned we were almost parallel. But on the other side of the isle, all the dems want to get rid of guns period. Hell obama said he hates the CCW laws.
I was for huckabee there for a while, but the things he did in Arkansas, put a sour taste in my mouth. I know people can change their positions, but damn. He claims to have rebuilt Arkansas roads, but last time i was there, my teeth were still rattling while driving down the highway.

Don't get me wrong, Im not a party loyalist by a long shot, but my veiws on the 2nd Amendment and foerign policy almost always line up better with Republicans.
Also, Hillary is basically a closet Marxist as her college writings show, and I can't get over the audacity of Obama wanting to ban CCW in states where it has been enacted by the citizens of the state. Does he not understand the concept of states rights, or a representative republic?
And dont even get me started on edwards....

Huckabee is behind CFR so I don't think it would be a good choice to elect him. All these candidates seem like decent people (except Guliani) but when it comes down to it they are just the same crooked politicians everyone typically complains about.
What don't you like about Paul's stance on the Middle East?

An almost isolationist agenda doesn't work, good or bad the only thing that keeps many countries in line is the fear of US intervention in the form of overwhelming military force.
Short of moving back all our manufacturing, and completely ridding us from the usage of foreign materials there is no way that it would work. Even less so in a world with nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction.

That, and his reasoning behind why we were hit on 9/11 is asinine. The Saudi's asked us to come defend them from Saddam, and we did. Some religious nutjob who did an alright job of killing commies in the mountains of afganistan gets bent out of shape about it, and were supposed to care?
Frankly, if were going to let our foerign policy be dictated by an inabillity to offend people like Osama Bin Laden, I don't think were going to last very long.

Its not the fact that we offended him. One country is in other countries, artificially giving those countries strength. What is that really doing for the world? Seriously....If we had not fucked around and kept anyone from overthrowing someone, there most likely would have been enough people under the same dictator who were sick of that dictator, to rise up and become a democracy. Its ridiculous to support the governments we support over there, when half of what they do is against our laws. Its what we'v always done, but no one has convinced me why.
Yeah, this mentality worked out real well for Europr in the late 1930's early 1940's.
