Good or bad for you repubs? Will he be good enough to take all?

Kind of early to call it, 45% of the precincts haven't reported yet, but he does have a descent lead.
If it comes down to MCCain and Hillary, I'm voting MCCain. Eh...he is a respectable guy at least.

McCain is clearly attempting to run towards the right after his win tonight making several references to Ronald Reagan, Supreme Court Justice nominations, and keeping taxes low. These are clear attempts to assure Conservatives in the party that he's "on their side" and is an attempt to make promises to them if he wins the nomination. My guess is that his internal poll numbers are telling him that he does better in a split race than he does in a one on one match up with Romney because Conservatives are still distrustful after he opposed parts of the Conservative agenda over the last 4 years.
To be honest, I have my own problems trusting McCain for those reasons. He as been a steady and rock solid supporter of the war and was the first politicians who said we needed more troops in Iraq, years before the surge was implemented. For that reason and a promise that he's learned his lesson on immigration and taxes, I'd be willing to give McCain another look.
Will he be good enough to take all?
Clearly if McCain can hold together Conservatives during the general election, he's got enough to win the White House. McCain does very well among independents and could even pull over some Democrats in the general. His main problem is going to be holding Conservatives together.

Thanks PM for another informative post.
As an independent with conservative leanings, I like hearing what you think.
I honestly believe if I'm left to choose between Hillary and McCain in the general elections, I'd go with McCain. I still have a lot to look into of course, but the way it played out tonight has me more right leaning.
