This is the 3,890th time I have spoken to you from TF, where so many debates in the greatest spirit of the first amendment have been made with and between us and effected the course of Tampa Forums and in very small ways, the country that I love. Each time I have posted I have done so to advance political discourse in some matter that I believed affected the national interest.

In the past several days however, it has become evident to me that with the separation of politics from Free for All Forum that I no longer have a strong enough motivation to justify continuing the effort of free debate of political topics on Tampa Forums. As long as there was such an audience in FFA, I felt strongly that it was necessary and needed that I continue to advance ideas and attempt to bring political discussion to those who might not otherwise read or discuss such subjects.

Let me be clear, this is not a decision I've made crying over spilled milk. I have had many discussions over the years with the owner of this site and the many moderators who help keep this site going about the very topic of separating politics from FFA and my opposition to it. The owner and the moderators I speak of, I would call friends and I respect the fact they have made this decision out of what they feel is in the best interest of Tampa Forums, a website I know many have poured their heart and soul into. This is not the first time politics has been temporarily separated from FFA on TF and not the first time I have opposed such a move. However, it seems to me that this 08 Election forum will be around at least until October and beyond.

I have therefore decided, reluctantly, to retire as Political Super Hero on Tampa Forums until such time as I feel my services as Political Man will again be needed. I want to thank all of the well wishers who have encouraged me to continue posting over the many years I have been here. You were the motivating factor in continuing to post political topics all this time. In so many ways the user name I originally created as a joke so many years ago has become a sense of identity in my private life because of the positive response on-line and in person I have received from members of the TF/TR family. No matter what happens from here on out, I will always be Political Man to family and friends because of this forum.

I look forward to speaking to all of my political friends and adversaries on other mundane topics on TF. Have fun and I'll see you all in FFA from time to time. One day, when the time is right, I will return to Tampa Forums to continue our debates that I have come to enjoy so much.

I am forever, Your friendly neighborhood Political Man.

I've talked with you about this in the past and I completely understand and agree with you. As much as I like politics, I'm not a huge fan of this forum either.

Man, that sucks. I value your posts. I have found you to be one of the most educated in these discussions, and many times I have asked you questions, as stupid as they may have been, you never made me feel stupid for asking.

I hate the election 08 forum because it is far to strict. No joking around, only serious discussions, stuff is deleted very quickly, and frankly, it's boring as hell.
It's also not a forum for people like me to discuss politics. It doesn't allow for anything other than serious topics and serious replies.
Politics isn't always that serious, and it makes me feel intimidated to even post in here.

I will truly miss your posts, your helpful discussions, and your knowledge.

Till then. :(

kinda shitty if ya ask me.. i like the age old motto.. "if it aint broke,Dont fix it"

why mess up a good thing.. while its ok to post childish crap and general idiocy in the FFA.. politics get the shit end of the stick.. what the hell is FFA anyways.. same as general conversation i thought. Im with you on this PM..
One of the first moves TF has made that i can honestly say i disagree with.

I still see political topics being brought up in FFA. WHat's the deal P-man? You won't be gone for long....

SHouldn't this be in FFA? Geeze, I'm sorry guys. I'm sorry you can't call somebody an idiot anymore. I myself like calling people morons. Unfortunately it will have to stay in FFA.

If you go to any other internet forum politics has mostly been seperated because it is it's own subject in itself. If I were to use your logic I would be saying "Why have more than one forum if you can just have one FFA?"

PM, you were one of the best evil Republicans to debate with. One of the few I didn't feel the need to resort to E-fighting with. I'll miss your crazy right wing ideas....

I agree. I dislike the idea of a new forum as well. Only the hardcore political people come in here. When political discussions are in FFA, many more people contribute.

+10000000. Remember when FFA was made back before TF existed, how the admin were bitching about how there was no use for it? Well look what happened when a real use for it started emerging...

Joking is allowed, but continued banter when no one else even attempted to address the issue was the problem with that thread. I didn't know who was sitting out this year, I just googled it.

There are only two rules that are really different from FFA, No personal attacks, and try to stay on topic.

im torn. i like the stricter rules to keep the bashing out, as that really turns me off of reading the older posts that were 5 pages long and 3 of them were misinformation and cheap shots.

but at the same time, politics in FFA was almost a necessity. i admit back in the '04 election when things got really heated at times, i wasn't hugely political and that turned me on to it seeing everyone's views and participation. i do like the threads in here best because it is the collection of the smartest (i say that loosely) collaborating on topics and not randoms coming in spouting nonsense, though that's almost something that is necessary to educate and shed light on views.

there's always going to be bitching from some people who don't wanna sift through lots of political threads, but fuck 'em, they know how to scroll past it. being these topics are much more on topic and focused, they are definitely less trafficked than if they were in FFA.

sad to see you go PM. we'll shine the "E-PM signal spotlight" into the intraweb clouds when we need you to save us from rhetoric once again!

Just thought I'd add a note to this. I'm not swearing off all politics and I'm not swearing off TF. I honestly don't feel that I am needed in this forum. Nothing more, nothing less that that. And if anyone wants to talk politics... my e-mail and pm are still working as far as I know.

Hey PM how long did it take you to come up with that speech....

You sound like Bill Clinton

PM is lying. the real reason he will not be posting in here is that he realized that clinton or obama is the better choice and he's too embarrassed to admit it
