The Republicans just walked out because the Democrats are grandstanding the FISA bill proceedings with non relative issues.
This was a blurb on the radio and there is nothing on the net yet so watch for some updates.

once again, you all who are the prime suspects to bitch about how the government are taking our rights away, seem to love this bill for some ass-backwards reason...good for the democrats to fight it.

You support the Democrats actions without even knowing what they are doing in this case. I will remember this post the next time us Republicans get called sheep or something similar.

it's doesn't matter what they're doing...any cause to fight this particular legislation is a good cause.

A even better quote.
BTW they are looking to add a national Go Green tax of ten cents on every dollar. :P ;)

no - scott rarely posts for civil liberties and privacy rights. his political posts are only to support republicans and throw out weak arguments criticizing democrats.
honestly scott - the maturity of your political posts is often that of a high school child taunting others. there's a core group in this forum that has had quite intelligent debates (admittedly a little heated at times), but they are NOT in the spirit of taunting or ridiculing others. i would like it if you just didn't post in this forum at all. it would make for a more mature atmosphere (which is pretty sad since you're an admin).

as to the Dems actions - they are just employing a strategy similar to a filibuster. a 10% green tax? obviously they are just wasting time to delay a vote.

There goes that elitism thing again. Don't post in this forum please.
Man you are full of yourself. If you are so disgusted by my posts and threads why address them ? And then in turn speak down your nose to me in only a way a elitist can. Wow the hypocrisy.
BTW I posted some great factual info with links ( unlike opinions like many of you give) and devoid of party banter in the other FISA thread and no one wanted to debunk or comment on it. Must have been to much I guess.
Anyhow anything relative to add from your high perch ?

Uh the green tax was a attempt at humor by me towards Topless since he works for a environmental company. Hint the smileys after my prior comment. :lmao: They did not report exact details for the Republicans walking out.
I guess on a side note see how quickly you believe things without sources ? And to think how many threads you automatically discredited just based on the source alone. :lmao:

scott - you post threads not to debate, but to belittle and demean. "elitism" - great catch word.
i stand by the fact that your threads are simply to attack the dems and not actually discuss issues. because of that, this forum would be better if you would just not post. you purposely try to antagonize people and enjoy getting into personal attack issues.
and i'll take your thunder here. yes, i'm making assumptions here. yes, i'm attacking your character. yes, i think i'm better than you where this is regarded. you're the only person - on either side of the debate, that constantly gets into personal issues with multiple people on a frequent basis.

lol, Scott, I have another tidbit to help guide your political discussion from now on: Arrogance knows no party lines.
A little less froth and a little more substance next time if you're truly interested in having a bi-partisan discussion, not everyone who supports the democrats are your stereotypical stupid, hippy liberal. Even if they are, you'll get a better response if you show some respect instead of posting bait threads like this and then laughing at your screen when you read the responses. You should be considering how to enrich this forum rather than just getting it hits.
I don't mean to sound like a broken record but Fox News has a similar strategy, instead of richly and diversely discussing and debating, they have Bill O'Reilly screaming his opinion into the face of some amateur idealist at prime time. If you think most people with intelligence aren't used to this rhetoric and aren't able to pick up on it then I really feel sorry for you.

Now I can appreciate that reply. :bigthumb:
For every thread moldy or T/A has a melt down I have made relative posts with links and all devoid of the key words to get people from the other side of the isle a little bothered. But many times the other side goes there within said threads.
So today I post this update to the FISA deal with no hooks to rail the other side, it was simply a update to the other thread instead of jacking the other one, that got overlooked didn't it ?
Now look back through this thread as a prime example of people making non relative posts while accusing someone else.
Sure I word my posts and sensationalize them at times to get a rise, so does everyone else. Anyone that says otherwise is bullshitting themselves. But on the same accord I also make plenty of posts about relevant issues, many with links and absent of prodding. I am just a little more brash when I decide to prod. Especially when I am hopped on cold meds. :crack:
Your point was taken none the less some others could learn from it as well.

On a more relative note here is the story that came out about the delay but they still do not mention the walking out of Republicans, maybe I was hallusiating. :dunno:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush ratcheted up pressure on Congress on Thursday to pass new rules for his domestic spying program before it expires this weekend, saying he was prepared to delay a trip to Africa to help advance the measure.
"If we have to delay, we'll delay," Bush said in his latest maneuver to prod lawmakers to favor a new law granting legal immunity to telephone companies that cooperated in his warrantless eavesdropping program.
"There really is no excuse for letting this critical legislation expire," he said.
Bush urged the House of Representatives to pass a White House-backed bill approved by the Senate on Tuesday, saying a failure to act would jeopardize national security by undermining intelligence agencies' ability to monitor communications between terrorism suspects.
Democrats, however, have accused Bush of fear-mongering as he and his fellow Republicans seem intent on using the spying debate to score points in a presidential election year by painting the Democrats as weak on counterterrorism.
The current legislation expires on Saturday. Bush has vowed to veto any further temporary extensions and is demanding a long-term fix to solidify the government's expanded powers to conduct domestic surveillance without court orders.
Bush was due to fly to Africa on Friday. He said he was prepared to delay his departure "if it will help them complete their work on this critical bill."

try telling them that. he's probably much more popular in some countries over there than he is here. some of them even have a more favorable view of the US than Americans do.
