In the past I have defended it. But this year is a good example of how fucked up it can be.
The Dems are proud of their two candidates and that's fine. It's what they believe in.
But I don't know anybody who is for McCain for any other reason other than that he is Republican. I cannot understand how the Republicans allowed him to be their nominee.
It really looks like the Dems and Reps meet behind closed doors and agree to who's turn it is.

I have to agree with you, he is the most liberal of all the republicans. its sickening, and i am not happy at all about it.
It's not like anything is rigged, right? :dunno:

The dumbasses voted for him, not much you can do.
Multi-party systems have their own problems, particularly when it comes to the overall stability of government.

Of course, I mean Ron Paul didn't come out eleventy billion percent ahead of all of the others as the interweb polls CLEARLY showed him doing, so it HAS to be rigged, right?
c'mon, you opened yourself up for it.
I'm for McCain because he is a moderate and he is a better choice than the other two. And being a moderate is where its at. Because you rank-n-file right/left wingers....you're just nucking futs.
I think out two party system works to the best of its abilities and better than any other countries election system. Does my or your favorite candidate always win...nope. But thats life.
But the system the way it is with each party having a primary runoff and widdleing it down to the last most popular candidates works. If you don't you get a system like France has with six people on the ballet and the person who wins gets 36% of the vote. In a case like this nowhere close does the winner get the majority of the popular vote.
Our system isn't perfect but its the best system I have seen.
BTW I will be voting for John McCain...my third choice.

The French system has it's own problems. Chirac likely got his second term only because the Socialist voted for a 3rd party to show their displeasure. Well enough of them voted for that other party that an extremist candidate from the National Front got more votes then the Socialist candidate.
The same socialists of course had to hold their noses and vote for Chirac during the run off election.

That has always been my defense of the two party system, but this year doesn't instill much confidence in it. There has got to be something going on behind the scenes. I'm not saying it is necessarily crooked, but there are some strategies that Mitt, Huck and RP weren't experienced in that made them lose and it has nothing to do with stroking voters.

Don't you worry Chuck. I am SURE it's crooked. :(

The two party system is worthless, and an insult to the republic. In fact, the government was specifically designed not to be a two-party system. The founding fathers would be very displeased with what has evolved.

+1
I don't see how he could get the nomination any other way. I'm not a fan of McCain at all. This election is going to be a dilemma for me. I may not vote.
