Well just posting to see if others are doing these events as well - but I am really psyched. I've been working pretty hard on running and cycling.

April 5th - Iron Girl -- 5K, shooting for a time around 27 minutes

April 26th & 27th -- MS 150 Bike ride
-- Doing the 100 mile, century ride the first day
-- 50 miles back the next
-- We go from Cypress Gardens (Winter Haven) until Sea World (Orlando)

Anyone else sign up for any exciting events lately?

Sounds pretty sweet, should be a blast from the looks of it. 9 minute mile pace?

I tried to get into the road biking for distance, but anything over 25-30 miles kills me. I stick to the sneakers pounding the pavement.

My next event is the Gunn Allen 5k. I hate to do it (because they are the only race that sends me crap every year to run it), but I like the course, and it's a convenient time. : )

Good luck out there - keep kicking ass!

I have a ton of endurance usually play tennis for a couple hours then play basketball but running a 5k is just too much for me it just gets boring. I dont know about doing a bike ride Im sure that would be cake. Good luck with everything and remember athletic girls>all.

Good for you! I seriously cannot wait to get back to working out. I tell you though, you are brave for doing all of those events. I don't think I'd have the guts to do it unless I had a partner with me or something.

Yeah I just sign up... pay the sign-up fee, and I'm "hooked" persay into actually doing it. I honestly don't know many people who run or enjoy doing 5K's, so I usually do it alone unless I can talk a friend or two into joining with me, but if it's a local race, I usually run into people I know on race day -- but with the biking... a friend of mine told me about the MS bike ride back in November, so I joined the team that he rides with "AWopASpicALimey" & the group is quite a bit older than me (well, in their 30's).. but they seem to be a really fun group.

Good deal! I know there's a couple of great bike clubs in St. Pete, I should really stop being lazy....

Do you use active.com or are you going through some other channel to find your events? The spaghetti 100 seems like a good time/one too....

that'd be a 8.44 minute pace actully, 5k is a 3.2 mile. Still though, decent pace for most people. I used to do them in 20 minutes...back when i was a 12 year old tank.

Anywho, have fun at those, im much too lazy to do anything outside running in my neighborhood, which im about to go do in 3 minutes.

5k is a 3.1 miles.

Fixed. ; ) I round off quite a bit, its a bad habit that I can't kick. :dunno:

Other good lengths:

10k is 6.2 Miles

Half-Thon is 13.11 Miles

Marathon is 26.22 Miles

I did a 10k last month and it rocked my world. There are some odd races out there to increment your way as well, like a 15k and half thons, or even 10 milers.

I'd really like to do the Disney Marathon in 2008. If you are going to do one within a 6 month/12 month time span register as early as possible (like when you start training), they close up really fast most of the time.

How did those events go?

I finished 18th out of 31, not too bad considering it was my first race and I started at the back of the pack.
