View Full Version : Starting a new mass diet
Ugh here we go:lol:
After four months of being sick, being on antibiotics and fighting six MRSA infections I'm getting back on the wagon. I went from 195 to 184-5lbs since december when I was first treated.
Picked up the new MF and it really reminded me why I love lifting so much (and I've had zero energy or motivation besides my boxing to keep me going). They had a decent article on dieting so I've decided to start. I'll try to keep a loose log here. I'm aiming for 3600-4000 cals a day.
Breakfast (11am):
3 whole eggs
3 egg whites
2 pieces whole wheat toast
1 tbsp natty pb
1 slice american cheese
protein shake w/soy milk
Totals (cal, protein, carbs, fat): 986 - 105 - 56 - 35
supps taken: creatine monohydrate, arginine, protein shake (54g protein total)
Ill calculate the nutritional info when I get back from the gym

I could easily eat that as a snack...like a breakfast appetizer to my real breakfast or something... thats not even alot really, that would just make me hungry.

If all of that is an appetizer you must be a pretty busy guy.

All-American SlamŽ Three scrambled eggs with Cheddar cheese, two bacon strips and two sausage links, plus hash browns or grits and choice of bread.
Even this doesnt 'fill' me up...

6 eggs, 2 pieces of toast, cheese, peanut butter, and a shake for breakfast - thats a lot more then a grand slam.

I dont understand how your on a "mass" diet, yet you do 90 mins of cardio, and top it off with some low-fat yogurt...
So you think maybe I should be doing a low carb diet instead? i need the 4000 calories a day because im doing whats equivalent to HIIT cardio. It isnt sustained cardio like running. And the fat content of the yogurt is fairly inconsequential

You should start a journal if you haven't already. That's really where we keep our daily diet/workout information. Stay clean, though! You have to be pretty active to eat 3 eggs a day as they have a lot of cholesterol (LDL and HDL). I've been having the egg beaters with a "touch of yolk" and they're really good.

bad information. Eggs are just fine, infact, you should eat more... maybe like 6(3 yokes/3 without) per morning. 100% serious/honest
you all will soon realize that cholesterol has much more to do with genetics than diet. I say you eat more, talk less and train hard and when you get the results, then talk about it. But thats just me.

Well maybe I have that frame of mind because my mom has high cholesterol. I know that if you are active you can eat as many eggs as you want. I have read a lot of research about the good things in eggs and I love them so I do eat them (probably 6-8 a week). Actually, every other day I eat the Egg Beaters w/ a little yolk. I just believe in moderation (complete opposite of power lifters or people trying to gain). I know that they contain both LDL and HDL and do many good things for the body. Please don't misunderstand my post, I apologize. Here are a few sources showing why they are good. http://www.acsh.org/publications/pubID.507/pub_detail.asp

eggs first had a good rep, then bad now good again just like most other foods :lmao:
All in all the nutrients found in egg yolks and their overall dietary structure have benefits that blast any negative effects out of the water. Obviously if you have high cholesterol you'll watch everything you eat a little closer, but I think most people as serious about their health as I am don't need to worry.
And yes, I had 6 eggs total for breakfast.
And yes, i know theres a journal section but I want it out here in case people have questions about the diet, training etc. The journals really dont get enough views and there arent even enough of them to warrant a subforum.
Dinner:
10oz grilled salmon
4 cups salad w/cheese & light dressing
Snack: 2 cups cottage cheese
Casein Protein Shake
2 cups grapes
Totals (cal, protein, carbs, fat): 1106 - 179 - 61 - 110
4/8 Totals (cal, protein, carbs, fat): 2672 - 338 - 204 - 147
Today:
Breakfast snack:
yogurt
Banana
Vitamin C (1000mg)
///(class from 9-10)///
Breakfast (1030):
3 whole eggs
1 cup oatmeal
english muffin
Whey Protein Shake
1/2 apple
Totals (cal, protein, carbs, fat): 941 - 92 - 127 - 27

I had them in the main forum originally, but they did clutter the page. I think there are definitely enough for a subforum and people have had discussions in journals already. If you're going to post in this every day and bring it to the top, I may end up moving it to the journal section or you can create your own journal because essentially that's what this is.
you can go ahead and move it then. lol theres only 9 active threads this month. I just looked at Carlos' log and theres no one commenting at all. Considering there's only 3 active logs, how exactly is that cluttering a forum with only 9 active threads ?

I'm not sure why this is a problem for you, but I did have a poll asking if we wanted journals and most people wanted a subforum because they didn't want it cluttering the main page.
Would it be helpful if I put a sticky notification of the journals in the main forum?
you can move it, its your forum. I think more care should be given to keeping things on topic (and dirtynerdy out) lol

Aye, aye cap'n! Believe me, I clean up as much as I can.
thx:) if you could delete the entire dialogue between dirty and I on the first page I'd appreciate it, its all trolling.
Updated both days with nutritional info.
Small note: my figures for eggs the first day was off by 200 cals, I use jumbo and the figures I had were for medium. its the first day, so I wont sweat it.

Boxing eh'? Ever consider adding the feet to your sport? I'd rather kick someone in the head than punch them...thats just me tho
I did tae kwon do for 7 years. I still train outside my boxing training (street fighting) but I'm in love with boxing, much more of an art form IMO than MMA, not knocking what they do.
